Know Your Products.Medline offers a full line of products that are as diverse as your residents. Options include:

Adult Briefs Indicated for residents who are bedridden, contracted, difficult to turn/position, aggressive or combative.

Pant & Liner Indicated for residents who are ambulatory, able to bear weight, or up with one-person assist, use underwear, self-toilet, or are involved in a B & B program.

Adult Protective Disposable Underwear Indicated for residents who are incontinent but active, can be pulled on and off just like normal underpants.

Underpads Used to protect the bed and furniture when a resident is incontinent.

Bladder Control Pads Adhere to the inside of resident’s undergarments to help manage light to moderate incontinence.

Size Does Matter.When using briefs or protective disposable underwear, it’s important to remember that bigger doesn’t necessarily mean better. When these products are too large, they aren’t snug enough to wick away moisture. Using the correct size helps prevent leaks and protect skin. Treat Skin with Care.Aging skin is thinner and more susceptible to damage from moisture, friction and trauma. With all that incontinence exposes delicate skin to—moisture, bacteria, ammonia and more—good skincare is critical:

» Gently wash skin with appropriate cleansing products » Pat skin dry—no rubbing » Use only water-based barrier creams and avoid over application, which can reduce product absorbency
