Walk Cycle

Yorkshire Dales

The Town museum (free entry) and the World of James Herriot museum in Thirsk are both fascinating visits.

Visit the National Park Visitor Centre and admire the views at Sutton Bank.

Lovely park and riverside walk for those with dogs, and most of the local pubs were dog friendly.

Visit Ripon for a lovely day out, the Cathedral is lovely and the market is very good.

8 North York MoorsExplore the edges of North York Moors National Park on National Cycle Route 65.

9 National Cycle NetworkJoin National Cycle Route 657, Thirsk to Easingwold.

6 Local WalksA five minute walk takes you to the centre of Thirsk, or enjoy a stroll along the River Cod Beck.

7 National ParksThis site is a perfect base from which to explore both the Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors National Parks.

Site managementThis site is managed by The Club on behalf of the owners, Thirsk Racecourse Ltd.

Safety on siteFire pointIn the event of fire, alarm/warning bells are located at all electric points.

PetsPlease keep dogs on a lead not exceeding 2 metres at all times, and clean up after them. Please do not leave your dog alone when you are off site.

Vehicles and cyclesPlease ensure that all members of your party follow the principles of road safety. All vehicles and bicycles on site should not exceed 5mph, one way systems signs should be observed, and there should be no cycling during the hours of darkness.

VisitorsPlease ask visitors to go to reception on arrival or meet them there after hours.

PitchesRace daysCaravans are required to move to the rally field on the day before races. There are no electric points or toilets on the rally field Please ask at reception for details.

SupermarketsLidl adjoining the site and Tesco, directly opposite.

Tourist InformationAt the Herriot Centre at 23 Kirkgate and in Market Square, Thirsk.

Public TransportBuses from outside site go to Ripon and Northallerton. Station 1 mile, trains go to York, Manchester, Durham and Middlesborough.

Pitch carePlease lift awning ground sheets daily. Only one car per pitch, please park extra cars in the visitor car park.

MotorhomesIf your pitch is left unoccupied, please leave your motorhome sign on display.

Vacating your pitchIf you wish to stay after 12 noon on your day of departure, please ask at reception.

BarbecuesThese are allowed on site but open fires are not. Please keep barbecues off the grass.

TV receptionTelevision reception is good, best with aerial horizontal.

Electric hook-upThe costs of electricity are included in your pitch fee, but please think of the environment by considering your electricity use.

Site facilitiesToilets and ShowersThe toilet blocks are closed for cleaning 10.30 - 11.30 am. Keys for the accessible toilet and shower facilities are available from reception.

LaundryWashing machine £4.00, Tumble drier £1.00. Washing sinks are also available. Please do not hang washing lines between trees or on the fences.
