Hi Chari,

You’ll never guess what! I’ve got some relatives in Australia … probably! Mum thinks she’s found her cousin, Ted. They used to spend all summer holidays together, but then Ted moved to Australia, and they lost touch. Mum used the Internet to nd him. It’s really exciting!

Mum says she’ll ask him to send us a photo, but he’ll be 55 next week so she may not recognise him. I said they should speak on the phone, but she won’t because she’s scared it’s not him. I think they should have a chat because she’ll remember his voice for sure. Dad thinks she will too. Fingers crossed it’s really him. We might go to Sydney for our next holiday and see this with our own eyes!

Lots of love,

Annie

Welcome!Welcome to the Sports and Activity Centre, everyone. We hope you’ll all enjoy 1yourselves this week. It’s a great chance to have a go at a sport or activity you’ve never tried before. We’d like you to choose at least one sport you do by yourself, and at least two 2 sports. Of course, we can do some sports, such as sailing, by 3 or with other people. It depends on the size of the boat!

Please remember that when you are doing a team sport, the team is much more important than the individual members. Help 4 and don’t let just a few team members do all the work 5 .

I’d also like to remind you that you should never do some activities alone. For example, always go 6 or rock climbing with a friend. Imagine what could happen if your air ran out, or if you 7 on a wet rock. Your friend may save your life.

You’ll meet your teachers, Jenny and Mike, on your fi rst morning. Jenny is a water sports fan. She 8 round the world by herself in record time last year! And Mike is a great sportsman. He won the National Triathlon two years ago. You must know it is a really tough event – fi rst you swim, then you cycle and fi nally you run quite a long way without a rest!

I’m sure both Jenny and Mike will teach you a lot!

Have fun everyone!

I needed all the energy I could get! 9Then, / First, the worst part of the day for me began. We had to run over a small mountain and through a wood. The problem was the weather. It suddenly got very foggy 10after / while we were running, and I got lost! I didn’t have a mobile, I couldn’t see any other runners and I didn’t know where I was. 11While / After what seemed like forever, I saw a dog. It was a special mountain rescue dog leading a rescue team of ve men and women, all looking for me! Imagine how embarrassed I was! At least all ended well, but I came last in my rst Triathlon. 12Before / Finally I got home, completely exhausted. 13The next day / First my photo was in the newspaper – for all the wrong reasons! 21
