Definition
• A percentage / fraction off a regular price.
Example Examples of a discount of 25% is:
$46.25 * .25 = $11.56 (Discount) Discounted Price = $34.69 [46.25 – 11.56] $18.36 * .25 = $4.59 (Discount) Discounted Price = $13.77 [18.36 – 4.59]]
• Multiply the original cost by the percent (%) of the discount.
• To figure out the discounted price you subtract discount amount from the regular price.

• Joe went to the store. He bought 2 shirts for 15.95 each. The shirts were on sale for 25% off the regular price.
• * How much did Joe save?
• * How much did Joe have to pay?
Answer!
• $15.95 * 2 = $31.90 regular price
• $31.90 *.25 = $7.98 money saved
• $31.90 – $7.98 = $23.92 sale price
