Dear ELC Students, Congratula ons on your progress over the past
14 weeks of classes. It is not always easy to feel that you have
made progress from day to day, but as you remember your ability in
English 14 weeks ago, I hope that you are able to see the progress
that you have made. Of course, the real measure of your success in
the English Language Centre comes when you study in your degree
program. Will you be able to read the texts, write research papers,
take notes, and have conversa ons with your class-mates and
professors? Successful students in their second and third year of
their degree o en return to the ELC and tell us that they now
appreciate more what they learned while in the ELC. We hope you are
successful in earning a degree but also that you enjoy each part of
the process of ge ng a degree. On behalf of the English Language
