  • Tyrannosaurus rex was one of the largest meat-eating dinosaurs that ever lived. Scientists believe that it could eat up to 500 pounds in one bite.

  • Despite growing to 30 feet in length and weighing over 4.5 tons, the Stegosaurus had a brain that was the same size as a dog's brain.

  • The time difference between when a Tyrannosaurus rex lived and a Stegosaurus lived is greater than the time between when a Tyrannosaurus rex lived and now.

  • Repenomamus robustus was a mammal that not only livedwith dinosaurs, but also preyed on dinosaurs.

  • Dinosaur eggs, even for the giant species, often were less than 6 inches across. The first few discovered were frequentlymistaken as large bird eggs.

  • The heaviest dinosaur wasBrachiosaurus at 80 tonnes. It was the equivalent to 17 African Elephants. Brachiosaurus was over 50 feet tall and 85 feet long and is the largest dinosaur skeleton to be mounted in a museum.

  • Quetzalocoatlus with its wingspan of over 42 feet was probably the largest pterosaur, and hence the largest flying creature of alltime.

  • A person who studies dinosaurs is known as a paleontologist (pay-lee-on-tall-o-jist). However, 4 out of every 5 dinosaur fossils are found by amateurs (am-uh-chewers).
