First Steps
Brief description of course:
This course covers the practical skills required to use a digital camera,
download pictures to a computer and some basic editing techniques.
This is a tutor led course with handouts to support learning.
Level One 5 wks x 2 hrs
Before the course starts
What will the course cover?
• Using basic camera controls and features
• download pictures to a computer
• view and prepare pictures for printing
• rotate and sharpen images
• resize images
• appreciate the difference between common image file
formats (gif, jpeg, psd)
Previous experience/entry requirements:
Learners should have some basic computer skills including
experience of using a mouse and keyboard.

There are no additional costs.
Do I need to bring anything to the first session? You may bring your own camera or we can supply cameras.
How much is this course? £35.00

Your progress and achievements will be recognised and recorded
throughout the course in a number of ways, for example:
• Practical tasks
• Written and verbal feedback from your Tutor

is, you may be entitled to a reduced fee for your course.
Learners in receipt of some benefits on accredited courses may
be able to claim Learner Support Fund to help with childcare,
transport, exams, and books and materials for their learning.
