2 Loading thePrint Cartridge

The print cartridge is supplied as partof the printing pack (page 6). Mount itin the unit as shown below.

1 Slide the latch of the doordown 1 to open the printcartridge door 2.

2 Remove the ribbon reelstopper from the printcartridge.

3 Push the print cartridge intothe unit until it audibly snapsinto place. Then close theprint cartridge door.

1 Open the print cartridge dooras described in step 1 above.

2 Grasp the removal knob onthe cartridge and pull the oldcartridge out. Then insert thenew cartridge.

If print cartridge does not go insmoothlyRemove it fully from the unit and thenreinsert it. If the cartridge does not goin smoothly because the ribbon is slack,rotate the spool of the cartridge in thedirection shown by the arrow to take upthe slack.

CautionThe interior of the unit can become hot. Donot put your fingers or other objects into theprint cartridge slot.

3 Loading thePrint Paper

The print paper is supplied as part ofthe printing pack (page 6).Mount it in the unit as shown below.

1 Open the cover of the papertray.

2 Place the print paper on thetray.Align the paper and place it on thetray with the protective sheet inplace and facing up.

You can insert up to 12 printpapers (1 pack) at a time.

NoteDo not separate along the perforatedlines before printing.

3 Close the paper tray cover.

NoteIf the print paper is not loadedproperly, the paper tray cover cannotbe closed. Make sure that the papertray cover is completely closed.

4 Pull out the protective sheet.

5 Pull the paper tray door open,and insert the paper tray intothe unit.

Push the paper tray all the way in,until it audibly snaps into place.

When printing is completedRemove the paper tray from the unitand close the paper tray door.

Notes• The printing pack contains a print cartridge

for 24 prints and 2 × 12-pack print paper.Only load half of the print paper at onetime.

• When adding print paper to the paper tray,take care not to exceed the maximum of 12sheets. Do not mix different types of printpapers. Otherwise a paper jam can occur.

• Do not write or print anything on the printpaper before inserting it into this unit.After printing, if you wish to write onto theimage side of the paper, use an oil-basedmarker. You cannot further print on theimage side of the paper.

• Do not attach any labels, stamps, stickersor similar to the print paper beforeprinting.

• When handling the print paper beforeprinting, do not touch the image side (theside where nothing is printed). If there arefingerprints or dust on the print paper orthe ribbon, print quality may be degraded.

• Be sure to use only the dedicated printpaper for this unit. Otherwise malfunctioncan occur.

• Do not fold or crease the print paper.Otherwise malfunction can occur.

4 Inserting the“Memory Stick”

Insert a “Memory Stick” into the unitas shown below.Be sure to push the “Memory Stick” allthe way in, until it audibly snaps intoplace.

To remove the “Memory Stick”

1 Verify that the MS ACCESSindicator is out. Then pushthe “Memory Stick” fully intothe unit.When you let go, the “MemoryStick” will pop out slightly.

2 Pull out the “Memory Stick”.

Notes• While the “Memory Stick” is being

accessed, the MS ACCESS indicator lightsup. Do not remove the “Memory Stick”from the unit during this interval.Otherwise the unit and/or the “MemoryStick” may be damaged.

• Do not forcibly push or remove the“Memory Stick” into or from the unit.Otherwise the unit and/or the “MemoryStick” may be damaged.

• While printing is in progress, do notremove the “Memory Stick” from the unit.Otherwise the unit and/or the “MemoryStick” may be damaged.

• The maximum Memory Stick capacitywith which this unit is compatible is 128MB.

• For information and precautions regardingthe handling of the “Memory Stick”, seethe section “Memory Stick” on page 27.

Operation DuringPrinting

Print paper moves back andforthDuring printing, the print paper passesfour times back and forth between thepaper exit slot and the top of the papertray. When printing is completed, thepaper is ejected from the paper exitslot.

Notes• Place the unit on a flat, level surface for

printing. If there is for example a raisedsection or a wall behind the unit, paperjams can occur.

• Before starting to print, make sure thatthere are no obstructions behind the unitwhich could block the smooth exit of thepaper. There should be a clearance of atleast 12 cm.

• Do not place any objects on top of thepaper tray.

• Do not touch the paper during printing, anddo not try to pull the paper out.

• Do not pull the paper tray out of the unitduring printing.

• Do not open the print cartridge door orremove the print cartridge from the unitduring printing.

• Never move the unit during printing, anddo not turn off the power. Otherwise apaper jam may occur or the unit may bedamaged. If the power was interruptedduring operation, turn the power on againand repeat the procedure.

This unit supports DPOF (Digital PrintOrder Format) which enables bulkprinting of images on a “MemoryStick” to which a Print Mark has beenassigned, for example with a SonyCyberShot digital camera or Handycamcamcorder.

Assigning a Print Mark

1 Insert the “Memory Stick” intothe Sony CyberShot digitalcamera or Handycamcamcorder.

2 Select the image you want toprint.

3 Assign a Print Mark asdescribed in thedocumentation of the cameraor camcorder. Thisinformation should be foundin a section entitled“Selecting Images for Print”or “Assigning Print Marks” orsimilar.

4 Verify that a Print Mark ( )is shown with the image onthe LCD of the SonyCyberShot digital camera orHandycam camcorder.

Bulk printing of imageswith Print Mark

1 Push down the power switchand slide it to the right, to turnthe unit on.

The indication “SETUP” flasheson the display, and then changesto “READY”.

NoteDo not remove or insert the printcartridge while the “SETUP”indication is flashing on the display.

3 Press the DPOF button.The unit enters the DPOF mode,and the indication “DPOF”appears on the display. The totalnumber of specified prints isshown on the display for about 1second.The folder number, file number,and number of duplicates for thefirst image with a Print Markappear on the display.If only one folder is available, nofolder number is shown.

4 Make the print settings asrequired.You can make settings for imagequality, print format, etc. Fordetails, see “Print Settings” onpage 21.

5 Press the PRINT/STOPbutton to start printing.During printing, the indication“PRINT” is shown on the display.

6 Remove the printed paper.If you have specified severalprints, remove the prints one byone after they are finished.

7 Fold the edges of the paperand remove them along theperforated lines.

Turning the power off• Push down the power switch and

slide it to the left until the indicationon the display disappears.

• Even if you do not use the powerswitch, the unit will automaticallyturn itself off after about 3 minutes(auto power-off function).

To cancel the operation whileprinting is in progressIf you have specified several prints butwant to cancel the operation before it iscompleted, press the PRINT/STOPbutton. The indication “WAIT” appearson the display, and printing stops afterthe current print is finished.

If unit runs out of paper or printcartridge ribbon while printingIf the unit runs out of paper whileprinting, the indication “PAPER”flashes on the display. If the printcartridge ribbon runs out, the indication“RIBON” flashes on the display.To continue the current operation, loadprint paper or replace the print cartridgewithout turning the unit off. Press thePRINT/STOP button to resumeprinting.

To turn off DPOF modeTo turn off the DPOF mode afterprinting, press the DPOF button oncemore. The indication “DPOF”disappears from the display and thenormal indication is shown again.

Changing the number ofduplicates

The number of duplicates for a PrintMark image that has been set with thedigital camera can be changed on theDPP-MP1. To do this, perform theoperation described below after step 3in the section “Bulk printing of imageswith Print Mark” (page 15). The unitmust be in DPOF mode (“DPOF”indication shown on display).

1 Select the Print Mark imagefor which you want to makethe change.Use the SELECT (–/+) buttons tocall up the file number of thedesired image. Then press theENTER button. The indication forthe number of duplicates flashesand can now be changed.

2 Change the number ofduplicates.Use the SELECT (–/+) buttons toset the number.

3 Press the ENTER button.The new number of duplicates isnow active.

4 Repeat steps 1 - 3 asnecessary.Perform steps 1 -3 for all otherimages for which you want tochange the number of duplicates.

NoteThis change will not be recorded on the“Memory Stick”.

You can select various settings for theimage before printing.

1 Hold down the ENTER buttonfor at least 2 seconds.The print settings mode isactivated, and the indication“SHARP” flashes on the display.

2 Use the SELECT (–/+)buttons until the desiredsetting item flashes on thedisplay.• Pressing SELECT (+) causes

the display to cycle throughavailable items in the order“SHARP” t “BRIGHT” t“DATE” t “FIT” t“MULTI” t “SHARP” etc.

• Pressing SELECT (–) cycles inthe opposite direction.

The available settings areexplained in the table “PrintSetting Items” at the end of thissection.

3 Press the ENTER button.The selected setting for theflashing item is shown.

4 Use the SELECT (–/+)buttons to change the setting.For example, if “DATE” isflashing, each push of theSELECT (–/+) button togglesbetween “ON” (date is printed)and “OFF” (date is not printed).

5 Press the ENTER button.• The print setting mode is

terminated and the unit returnsto the normal mode (printstandby).

• The current print setting can bechecked by the displayindication.

NoteIf a date was inserted with the Sony CyberShotdigital camera or Handycam camcorder, thedate will be printed twice.

NoteA date inserted with the Sony CyberShot digitalcamera or Handycam camcorder may exceedthe printable range and may be cut off.

FIT ON The image is scaled so that the entire image fitson the paper and no section is cut off. (There isa rim around the image.)

x OFF The image is printed as is, to the maximumprintable range. Depending on the size ratio ofthe image, some sections (top/bottom or left/right) may be cut off. (There is no rim aroundthe image.)

MULTI ON Multiple copies of the same image are printedon one paper. You can select division into 2, 4,or 8 segments.

x OFF Division is not carried out.

PC Interface KitThis PC interface kit allows you toprint images to the DPP-MP1 fromyour computer. The DPP-MP1 comeswith a USB cable and CD-ROM.

Preparation

Install the printer driver.To print from your computer, you mustinstall the DPP-MP1 printer driver onyour computer from the “digital photoprinter for DPP-MP1” CD-ROM.Refer to the Installation Guide forprinter driver installation.The Installation Guide is included onthe “digital photo printer for DPP-MP1” CD-ROM as a PDF file. Double-click the Driver(English).pdf filecontained in the “Document” -“English” folder that corresponds toyour operating system.

NoteIn order to read the Installation Guide,Adobe Acrobat Reader must be installed onyour computer. If it is not already installed,you can install it from the “digital photoprinter for DPP-MP1” CD-ROM. WithWindows, double-click the file ar500eng.exefile in the “Acrobat” - “English” folder. Withthe Macintosh, install by double-clicking theAcrobat Reader Installer.

Connect to your computer.

1 Connect the DPP-MP1 toyour computer using thesupplied USB cable.

2 Connect the AC adapter tothe DPP-MP1, then turn onthe power switch.

Notes• We recommend using the DPP-MP1 with

the AC adapter whenever the USB cable isconnected.

• When the USB cable is connected, theDPP-MP1’s auto power-off function isdisabled.

• Operation is not assured if the DPP-MP1 isconnected through a USB hub. Some USBdevices may prevent proper operation ofthe DPP-MP1 if they are usedsimultaneously.

• If the computer’s suspend-resume function(sleep function) operates, communicationbetween the DPP-MP1 and the computermay not be restored when normalcomputer operation is resumed.

• When USB connection is made to thecomputer while printing directly from aMemory Stick, the computer will notdetect the DPP-MP1 until printing iscompleted.

The DPP-MP1 does not include imageprocessing software. Image processingsoftware must be obtained separately inorder to print to the DPP-MP1 fromyour computer.

1 On the computer, select theDPP-MP1 as the destinationprinter.

2 Make any required printsettings.When the DPP-MP1 is connectedby USB cable, print settings aremade from the computer. For theprint settings, see InstallationGuide included on the “digitalphoto printer for DPP-MP1” CD-ROM.

3 Print from your imageprocessing software.

NoteWhen the DPP-MP1 is connected by USBcable, all controls other than the powerswitch are disabled. When using the DPP-MP1 to print images directly from a MemoryStick, be sure to disconnect the USB cable.

Precautions

On safety• Operate the printer on 12 V DC only.• Be careful not to set or drop any

heavy objects on the power cord, orto damage the power cord in anyway. Never operate this printer witha damaged power cord.

• Should any solid object or liquid fallinto the cabinet, unplug the printerand have it checked by qualifiedpersonnel before operating it anyfurther.

• Never disassemble the printer.• To disconnect the power cord, pull it

out by the plug. Never pull the powercord itself.

• When the printer is not going to beused for an extended period of time,disconnect the power cord from thewall outlet.

• Do not handle the printer roughly.• To reduce the risk of electrical

shock, always unplug the printerfrom the electrical outlet beforecleaning and servicing the printer.

On installation• Avoid placing the printer in a

2Chargementde la cartouched’impression

La cartouche d’impression fait partiedu pack d’impression (page 6).Montez-la dans l’appareil commeindiqué ci-dessous.

3Chargement dupapier d’impression

Le papier d’impression fait partie dupack d’impression (page 6).Insérez-le dans l’appareil commeindiqué ci-dessous.

1 Ouvrez le couvercle de lacassette papier.

2 Placez le papier d’impressiondans la cassette papier.Alignez le papier et placez-le dansla cassette avec la feuille deprotection en place et orientée versle haut.

Vous pouvez insérer un maximumde 12 papiers d’impression (1pack) à la fois.

RemarqueNe déchirez pas le papier le long leslignes perforées avant l’impression.

3 Refermez le couvercle de lacassette papier.

RemarqueSi le papier d’impression n’est paschargé correctement, vous ne pourrezpas refermer le couvercle de la cassettepapier. Veillez à bien refermer lecouvercle de la cassette papier à fond.

4 Sortez la feuille de protectionen tirant dessus.

5 Tirez sur le volet de lacassette papier pour l’ouvrir,et insérez la cassette papierdans l’appareil.

Enfoncez la cassette papier à fonddans l’appareil jusqu’à ce quevous l’entendiez se mettre enplace dans un déclic.

Lorsque l’impression estterminéeRetirez la cassette papier de l’appareilet refermez le volet de la cassettepapier.

Remarques• Le pack d’impression comprend une

cartouche d’impression pour 24impressions et 2 packs de 12 papiersd’impression. Ne chargez que la moitié dupapier d’impression à la fois.

• Lorsque vous ajoutez du papierd’impression dans la cassette papier, faitesattention à ne pas dépasser le maximum de12 feuilles. Ne mélangez pas différentessortes de papier d’impression. Vousrisqueriez de provoquer un bourragepapier.

• N’écrivez et n’imprimez rien sur le papierd’impression avant de l’insérer dansl’appareil. Après l’impression, si vousvoulez écrire sur la face image du papier,utilisez un feutre à base d’huile. Vous nepourrez plus imprimer sur la face image dupapier.

• Ne collez pas d’étiquettes, de timbres,d’auto-collants ni rien de similaire sur lepapier d’impression avant l’impression.

• Lorsque vous manipulez le papierd’impression avant l’impression, netouchez pas la face image (la face où rienn’est imprimé). S’il y a des traces de doigtsou de la poussière sur le papierd’impression ou sur le ruban, la qualitéd’impression sera réduite.

• Utilisez exclusivement le papierd’impression spécialement conçu pourl’appareil. Sinon, vous risqueriez deprovoquer un mauvais fonctionnement.

• Ne pliez et ne froissez pas le papierd’impression. Vous risqueriez deprovoquer un mauvais fonctionnement.

4 Insertion du“Memory Stick”

Insérez le “Memory Stick” dansl’appareil comme indiqué ci-dessous.Enfoncez le “Memory Stick” à fonddans l’appareil jusqu’à ce que vousl’entendiez se mettre en place dans undéclic.

Remarques• Lorsque le “Memory Stick” est sollicité,

2Colocacióndel cartucho deimprimir

El cartucho de imprimir se suministracomo parte del paquete de imprimir(página 6). Colóquelo en la unidadcomo se muestra abajo.

1 Deslice hacia abajo el cierrede la tapa 1 para abrir latapa del cartucho de imprimir2.

2 Retire el retén del carrete decinta del cartucho deimprimir.

3 Empuje el cartucho deimprimir hacia el interior de launidad hasta que encaje ensu sitio produciendo unsonido. Después cierre latapa del cartucho de imprimir.

Sustitución del cartucho deimprimirCuando se agote el cartucho deimprimir, la indicación “RIBON”parpadeará en el visualizador.

1 Abra la tapa del cartucho deimprimir como se describe enel paso 1 de arriba.

2 Agarre el asidero deextracción del cartucho ysaque el cartucho viejo.Después inserte el cartuchonuevo.

Si el cartucho de imprimir noentra suavementeSáquelo completamente de la unidad ydespués vuelva a insertarlo. Si elcartucho no entra suavemente porque lacinta está floja, gire el carrete delcartucho en la dirección mostrada porla flecha para tensar la cinta.

PrecauciónEl interior de la unidad puede calentarse. Noponga los dedos ni otros objetos en la ranuradel cartucho de imprimir.

3Carga delpapel de imprimir

El papel de imprimir se suministracomo parte del paquete de imprimir(página 6).Colóquelo en la unidad como semuestra abajo.

1 Abra la tapa de la bandeja depapel.

2 Ponga papel de imprimir enla bandeja.Alinee el papel y póngalo en labandeja con la hoja de protecciónincluida y mirando hacia arriba.

Puede insertar un máximo de 12hojas de impresión (1 paquete) deuna vez.

NotaNo separe a lo largo de las líneasperforadas antes de imprimir.

3 Cierre la tapa de la bandejade papel.

NotaSi el papel de imprimir no está biencargado, no se podrá cerrar la bandejade papel. Asegúrese de que la tapa dela bandeja de papel esté completamentecerrada.

4 Extraiga la hoja deprotección.

5 Abra la tapa de la bandeja depapel, e inserte la bandeja depapel en la unidad.

Empuje la bandeja de papel haciadentro a tope hasta que encaje ensu sitio produciendo un sonido.

Cuando se haya completado laimpresiónRetire la bandeja de papel de la unidady cierre la tapa de la bandeja de papel.

Notas• El paquete de imprimir contiene un

cartucho de imprimir para 24 copias y 2paquetes de 12 hojas de papel de imprimir.Cargue solamente la mitad del papel deimprimir de una vez.

• Cuando quiera añadir papel de imprimir ala bandeja de papel, tenga cuidado de noexceder el máximo de 12 hojas. No mezclediferentes tipos de papel de imprimir. Delo contrario podrá producirse un atasco depapel.

• No escriba ni imprima nada en el papel deimprimir antes de insertarlo en esta unidad.Después de imprimir, si desea escribir enla cara de imagen del papel, utilice unrotulador a base de aceite. Ya no podrávolver a imprimir en la cara de imagen delpapel.

• No adhiera ninguna etiqueta, sello,pegatina ni similar al papel de imprimirantes de imprimir.

• Cuando maneje el papel de imprimir antesde imprimir, no toque la cara de imagen (lacara donde no hay nada impreso). Si hayhuellas dactilares o polvo en el papel deimprimir o en la cinta, la calidad deimpresión podrá degradarse.

• Asegúrese de utilizar solamente el papel deimprimir exclusivo para esta unidad. De locontrario podrá ocurrir un malfuncionamiento.

• No doble ni arrugue el papel de imprimir.De lo contrario podrá ocurrir un malfuncionamiento.

4 Inserción del“Memory Stick”

Inserte un “Memory Stick” en la unidadcomo se muestra abajo.Asegúrese de empujar el “MemoryStick” a tope, hasta que encaje en susitio produciendo un sonido.

Para extraer el “Memory Stick”

1 Verifique que el indicador MSACCESS está apagado.Después empuje el “MemoryStick” a tope hacia el interiorde la unidad.Cuando lo suelte, el “MemoryStick” saldrá hacia fueraligeramente.

2 Extraiga el “Memory Stick”.

Notas• Mientras se esté accediendo al “Memory

Stick”, el indicador MS ACCESS seencenderá. No extraiga el “Memory Stick”de la unidad durante este intervalo. De locontrario la unidad y/o el “Memory Stick”podrán dañarse.

• No empuje el “Memory Stick” al interiorde la unidad ni lo extraiga de ella a lafuerza. De lo contrario la unidad y/o el“Memory Stick” podrán dañarse.

• Mientras se esté efectuando la impresión,no extraiga el “Memory Stick” de launidad. De lo contrario la unidad y/o el“Memory Stick” podrán dañarse.

• La capacidad máxima del “Memory Stick”con el que esta unidad es compatible es de128 MB.

El papel de imprimir se muevehacia atrás y hacia delanteDurante la impresión, el papel deimprimir pasa cuatro veces hacia atrásy hacia delante entre la ranura de salidade papel y la parte superior de labandeja de papel. Cuando se completala impresión, el papel es expulsado porla ranura de salida de papel.

Notas• Ponga la unidad sobre una superficie plana

y nivelada para imprimir. Si hay, porejemplo, una parte levantada o una pareddetrás de la unidad, podrán producirseatascos de papel.

• Antes de empezar a imprimir, asegúrese deque detrás de la unidad no hayaobstrucciones que puedan impedir que elpapel salga suavemente. Deberá haber unespacio de 12 cm por lo menos.

• No ponga ningún objeto encima de labandeja de papel.

• No toque el papel durante la impresión, yno intente tirar del papel para sacarlo.

• No extraiga la bandeja de papel de launidad durante la impresión.

• No abra la tapa del cartucho de imprimir niextraiga el cartucho de imprimir de launidad durante la impresión.

• No mueva nunca la unidad ni desconecte laalimentación durante la impresión. De locontrario podrán producirse atascos depapel o dañarse la unidad. Si se interrumpela alimentación durante el funcionamiento,vuelva a conectar la alimentación y repitael procedimiento.

Esta unidad es compatible con DPOF(Formato para pedido de impresióndigital) que permite imprimir un grupode imágenes almacenadas en un“MemoryStick” a las que se les ha asignado unamarca de imprimir con, por ejemplo,una cámara digital CyberShot ovideocámara Handycam Sony.

1 Inserte el “Memory Stick” enla cámara digital CyberShot ovideocámara HandycamSony.

2 Seleccione la imagen quequiera imprimir.
