8/13/2019 Did Prophet Hit His Wife
1/9
In this article I am going to answer (refute) some claims that are spread
around by Islamophobes on woman, in Islam, God willing.
Critics of Islam who want to undermine the character of the Prophet
Muhammed (p) have accused the Prophet of beating his wife isha up. !he
"adith the critics cite says#
Muhammad b. $ais said (to the people)# %hould I not narrate to you (a hadith
of the "oly Prophet) on my authority and on the authority of my mother& 'e
thought that he meant the mother who had given him birth. "e (Muhammad
b. $ais) then reported that it was isha who had narrated this# %hould I not
narrate to you about myself and about the Messenger of llah (may peace be
upon him)& 'e said# *es. %he said# 'hen it was my turn for llahs Messenger
(may peace be upon him) to spend the night with me, he turned his side, put
on his mantle and too+ off his shoes and placed them near his feet, and
spread the corner of his shawl on his bed and then lay down till he thought
that I had gone to sleep. "e too+ hold of his mantle slowly and put on the
shoes slowly, and opened the door and went out and then closed it lightly. I
covered my head, put on my veil and tightened my waist wrapper, and then
went out following his steps till he reached a-i. "e stood there and he stood
for a long time. "e then lifted his hands three times, and then returned and I
also returned. "e hastened his steps and I also hastened my steps. "e ran
and I too ran. "e came (to the house) and I also came (to the house). I,
however, preceded him and I entered (the house), and as I lay down in thebed, he (the "oly Prophet) entered the (house), and said# 'hy is it, isha,
that you are out of breath& I said# !here is nothing. "e said# !ell me or the
%ubtle and the ware would inform me. I said# Messenger of llah, may my
father and mother be ransom for you, and then I told him (the whole story).
"e said# 'as it the dar+ness (of your shadow) that I saw in front of me& I said#
*es. "e struc+ me on the chest which caused me pain, and then said# /id you
thin+ that llah and "is postle would deal un0ustly with you& %he said#
'hatsoever the people conceal, llah will +now it. "e said# Gabriel came to
me when you saw me. "e called me and he concealed it from you. I
responded to his call, but I too concealed it from you (for he did not come toyou), as you were not fully dressed. I thought that you had gone to sleep, and
I did not li+e to awa+en you, fearing that you may be frightened. "e (Gabriel)
said# *our 1ord has commanded you to go to the inhabitants of a-i (to those
lying in the graves) and beg pardon for them. I said# Messenger of llah, how
should I pray for them ("ow should I beg forgiveness for them)& "e said# %ay,
Peace be upon the inhabitants of this city (graveyard) from among the
elievers and the Muslims, and may llah have mercy on those who have

!he hand imposition of the prophet Muhammed (pbuh) it is a gesture driving
away evil influence (waswas) and conferring blessings, its nothing bad at all.
!he intent of the Prophet Muhammed (p) was to drive away evil influencefrom isha. Proof from the following "adiths that the prophet Muhammed (p)
pushed isha (?a) and never hit her#
isha said# 8llaahs Messenger (pbuh) never hit anything with his hand ever,

correct translation is that the Prophet pushed isha, to drive away evil
influence, as isha ma+es it evidently clear that he 4;F;? hit any woman or
servant. !hat statement from isha alone shows that Prophet Muhammed (p)
was never abusive in any shape or form, to any of his wives. !his proves that
the translation for the "adith that says Muhammed struc+ isha is false.
