INTRODUCTION

Central dogma of genetic information:

DNA replication:

ProteinsRNADNA

DNA is replicated from

its same moldRNA is replicated from a

DNA`s mold

Proteins are synthesized from RNAm`s mold

In this process a

DNA molecule

synthesize a new DNA molecule

This process

occurs in the phase S of the cell

cycle

This is important because if there is a mistake, occurs a mutation

CANCER: SOME CELLS DON'T KNOW WHEN TO STOP

Cancer arises from DNA damage in

fragile sites in the genome, like

repetitive sequences.

Page 6: Diapositivas plegable

CANCER: SOME CELLS DON'T KNOW WHEN TO STOP

B cells lymphocytes are the cells that have more

risk to have DNA damage.

Also by the AID

The rason is because they divide rapidly.

Page 7: Diapositivas plegable

CANCER: SOME CELLS DON'T KNOW WHEN TO STOP

Early replicating frgile sites (ERFSs)

are AID-independient

ERFSs are associeted with the DNA breaks.

ERFSs are the principal cause of

alteration in B cells lymphoma

CANCER: SOME CELLS DON'T KNOW WHEN TO STOP

The replication of DNA damage helps to adpat and survive to the cells when there is a metastasis.

PEERSONAL COMMENT

This new is very importante becuase now there is a better knowledge about the mechanism of the cancer, so the scientists can improve treatment and this will improve the quality of life.

Page 10: Diapositivas plegable

DISCOVERY OF NEW CLASS OF DAMAGE-PRONE DNA REGIONS COULD LEAD TO BETTER CANCER TREATMENTS

Some cells can resist these drugs.

Chemoterapy drug stop DNA replication in the cancer cells

Page 11: Diapositivas plegable

DISCOVERY OF NEW CLASS OF DAMAGE-PRONE DNA REGIONS COULD LEAD TO BETTER CANCER TREATMENTS

There are checkpoints mutants that create damaged DNA, this can cause cancer

Page 12: Diapositivas plegable

DISCOVERY OF NEW CLASS OF DAMAGE-PRONE DNA REGIONS COULD LEAD TO BETTER CANCER TREATMENTS

Normally cells can recognize when they loss nucleotides, but checkpoints mutants dont recognize this signal.

Page 13: Diapositivas plegable

DISCOVERY OF NEW CLASS OF DAMAGE-PRONE DNA REGIONS COULD LEAD TO BETTER CANCER TREATMENTS

Some cells continue with the replication of damaged

DNA.

There is a collapse

point where strands break.

Page 14: Diapositivas plegable

PERSONAL COMMENTWith this investigation scientists know what are the failures in the treatment, and other cause of cancer. So now they can create other methods to trear this disease.

Page 15: Diapositivas plegable

MEDICAL BENEFIT

With these knowledges the cancer´s treatment can improve, and this probably will save many lifes.

Page 16: Diapositivas plegable

MEDICAL BENEFIT

In cancer and helthy cells we can find problems in the replication, so now scientists must to create methods to control and supervise these problems.

Page 17: Diapositivas plegable

MEDICAL BENEFIT

Scientists can create a method to identify which cells have problems in the replication, and the way to stop them.

Page 18: Diapositivas plegable

MEDICAL BENEFIT

To understand the consequences of the chemotherapy, and know why this can not traet cancer by 100%, but this can improve it.
