Dear Friend of the German-Albanian Dialogue,

co-operation of Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia with the Federal State of North Rheine and Westphalia

(NRW), especially with the Ruhr area has a long story. The most important investors such as DEMINEX,

HOCHTIEF AirPort (now AviAlliance), DEG – the German bank for investment and development, RWE,

E.ON AG, DHL, Deutsche Telekom have invested and contributed to the development of the economy of

our countries. Trade exchanges take place every day between many other medium-sized German, Albanian,

Kosovo and Macedonian companies. This cooperation is reinforced by the Albanian diaspora living and work-

ing in NRW, a very important bridge of communication and cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, cul-

ture and education.

We believe that a further intensive exchange and cooperation with the State of NRW is possible and has ben-

efits for all parties. The Federal State itself with a population of 18 million people and an annual income of

more than 582 billion Euros (22% of the Gross Domestic Product of Germany) offers infinite business oppor-

tunities for trade, exchange and cooperation in all sectors, particularly in energy, infrastructure, mining, inte-

grated tourism, agriculture and others. The 16 Chambers of Commerce in NRW represent more than 900

thousand businesses of all sizes, active in trade and commerce worldwide.

This conference, organised by IDEAL – the Integrative German-Albanian Association (www.i-de-al.org) in

collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tirana (www.cci.al) and the Chamber of Com-

merce and Industry of Essen (www.essen.ihk24.de), has aroused the interest of many businesses, Albanian and

German based and enjoys the full support of the German CIM - International Centre for Migration

(www.cim.de) and GIZ - Organization for International Cooperation (www.giz.de), as well as the NRW In-

vestment Promotion Agency (www.nrw-international.de), AIDA - the Albanian Investment Development

Agency (www.aida.gov.al) and IPAK – Investment Promotion Agency of Kosovo (www.invest-ks.org. Further-

more this activity is supported by the Ministries of Economy in NRW, Albania and Kosovo.

DIALOGUE DAY

Travel Information

By Air

If you wish to fly, the Airport of Düsseldorf is the closest airport to Essen. You may choose Austrian Airlines or Lufthan-

se from Tirana. Alternatively, you may travel by car from Tirana to Prishtina and fly from Prishtina International Airport

on Belleair, Kosvo Airlines or Air Prishtina directly to Düsseldorf (ca. 2hrs flight).

From Düsseldorf Airport to Essen City Centre

You may choose to take a taxi from the Airport to “Essen City Centre/Philharmonie”. This drive costs around 55

Euro and lasts 25 minutes, irrespective of the number of people sharing the taxi. IDEAL may assist you to prebook a

taxi from Essen at a fixed price of 40 Euro per trip. Please send your reservation details to our event office at: dialog@i-

de-al.org in time for further arrangements. Payment should be made directly to the taxi driver by the passengers.

Alternatively you may take the train S-Bahn (S1) or one of the regional trains (RE1, 6 und 11) to Essen Main Station

“Essen HBF” at a cost of Euro 10,00 per trip. If you wish to return to the Airport by train, it is advisable to buy a re-

turn ticket or if you travel in group you may purchase a ticket for four persons at around Euro 36,00 for four trips.

Attention: The tickets for S1 and the Regional Trains must be validated prior to boarding the train in the upper level of

the train station at Düsseldorf Airport. You may be fined Euro 40,00 per person, if the ticket is not validated properly.

From the Essen Main Train Station please take the Exit “Freiheit” and walk straight ahead along the “Huysenallee”

for about 5 Minutes to “Philarmonie/Sheraton” (ca. 400 m distance).

By Car

If you travel by car, the Philharmony is situtated at the crossing of the motorways A40 dhe A52. Please take the Exit

„Abfahrt Essen-Zentrum“ and follow the signs to Essen Main train Station „Hauptbahnhof“. From here please follow

the signs to „Huyssenallee“ or „Essen-Rüttenscheid“ and after 400 m turn left to „Philharmonie / zum Hotel

Sheraton“. Parking is possible at or close to “Philharmonie” against payment.
