What is DevOps Enterprise Summit?DevOps Enterprise Summit (DOES) is a conference for the leaders of large, complex organizations implementing DevOps principles and practices. The event programming emphasizes both evolving technical and architectural practices and the methods needed to lead widespread change efforts in large organizations. The goal is to give leaders the tools and practices they need to develop and deploy software faster and to win in the marketplace.

With events in both the United States and Europe, DevOps Enterprise provides keynotes, panels, breakouts, a community space for spontaneous gatherings, and an expo hall. Sessions will be led by leaders who are pioneering these practices in large and complex organizations across a wide range of industries. The keynotes will feature industry luminaries as well as speakers from well-known companies who will share the learnings from their enterprise DevOps initiatives.

The History of DevOps Enterprise SummitDevOps Enterprise Summit debuted in 2014 in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area. The inaugural event was coproduced by IT Revolution and founding partner Electric Cloud. More than 700 attendees heard talks from more than 80 speakers as everyone explored the unique challenges that DevOps brings to large organizations.

In 2015, DevOps Enterprise moved to downtown San Francisco. Taking feedback from attendees and speakers, we focused on five topics: culture, organizational design, automated testing, metrics, and security. The event grew to 1100 attendees with over 100 speakers and 45 sponsors supporting the event.

What’s new for 2016?The DevOps Enterprise Summit will be taking place again in downtown San Francisco. This year, we will be at the Hilton Union Square from November 7–9, 2016. The new location will give us the ability to grow the conference again this year and provide better locations for our tradeshow floor and break-out sessions.

AND…

We are adding a second event in London to cater to the growing DevOps movement in Europe. Our event will take place at the Hilton London Metropole, located close to Paddington Station. For our first year in Europe, the event will last two days: June 30 and July 1. There will be mainstage talks with three breakout tracks. We will be focused on the same topics as DevOps Enterprise San Francisco and will feature local speakers telling the stories of their DevOps transformations.

We are basing our 2016 programming on a series of questions we asked past attendees and speakers about the biggest issues they continue to work with.

1. Leading Change: What are effective strategies and methods for leading change in large organizations?

2. Organizational Design: What do the organization charts look like for organizations successfully adopting DevOps look like? What are the respective roles and responsibilities, and how has it changed from more traditional IT organizations?

3. Modern Technology Practices: What are modern architectural and technical practices that every technology leader needs to know about?

4. Compliance and Security: What are concrete ways for DevOps to bridge the information security and compliance gap, to show auditors and regulators that effective controls exist to effectively prevent, detect, and correct problems?
