In January 2018, the Rainforest Alliance merged with UTZ, a global program and label for sustainable farming.

Position summary: DevOps teams work closely with clients to understand the stakeholder requirements and use that to drive the analysis, design and implementation of quality technical solutions. These solutions must be aligned with our Technology strategy and be in compliance with the Rainforest Appliance’s processes & architectural standards. The scope of our responsibilities is the full life cycle of Rainforest Alliance services & related application platforms.

Individuals in the DevOps Engineer role support a range of applications and solutions to support both partners and Rainforest Alliance employees. DevOps Engineers are customer focused and able to increase satisfaction, deepen client relationships, and effectively manage expectations to a variety of customers. As DevOps Engineer you have the capacity to cooperate in an effective and efficient way with our development and engineering teams which means you accurately describe incoming problems and translate their technical answers into customer-friendly responses. You work with a broad range of infrastructure products, operating systems, and applications. You provide maintenance and support for moderately to highly complex products and work on one or more projects concurrently as a team member. You are expected to have excellent analytical problem-solving skills, diagnostic skills and the ability to prioritize your own work. You have well developed interpersonal and communication skills and you are fluent in written and verbal English.

Responsibilities: Actively leads resolution of production support issues, that could be in the process, application,

middleware, OS and/or database; Is responsible for the installation of Operating Systems, middleware patches and tuning there

of; Is responsible for configuration management of the different environments for each of the

platforms; Builds deployment scripts & is responsible for the deployment of releases to the different

environments and ensures that it meets the customers’ expectations; Implements, maintains and monitors the servers, virtual machines, applications and software

backup. Restores and performs server and security audits; Develops process tooling support; Is responsible for the design and optimization of databases;

Leads continuous improvement by analyzing the bugs, incidents and stakeholder dissatisfaction to find out if these could have been prevented;

Proactively identifies and addresses the shortcomings in the DevOps way of working, the competencies, tooling, information available, and the behavior patterns observed.

Qualifications: Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience as DevOps or a similar position; Knowledge of Data Modeling; Experienced, structured and pragmatic DevOps with a good knowledge of: - Linux; - Networking, Firewall technology; - Scripting (Bash/Ansible); - Atlassian suite (Jira/Confluence/Bitbucket); - Deployment and Monitoring (Jenkins/Artifactory/Sonar); - At least one programming language: PHP, C# or Java; - Web based languages: JavaScript, CSS, HTML; - Programming with databases: SQL Server, Oracle or MySQL; - Cloud computing (Vsphere/Azure/AWS).

What we offer Employment is based upon 32-40 hours/week. The position is based in Amsterdam and is open to applicants of all nationalities. However, we can only consider candidates who have, will get or are eligible for a Dutch work and residency permit. Starting date of the assignment is foreseen as soon as possible.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
