pH longer than that of acid pre-dips, which enhances bath effectiveness and reduces the frequency of product addi- tions required to maintain optimum chromate pH levels. Also, because Zinc Dip is compatible with almost all chromates, its use eliminates the dele- terious effects on chromate-bath life that can result from the use of sulfuric or nitric acid pre-dips. Zinc Dip is available as an easy-to-use powder and is economical for either barrel or rack operations.

Diaphragm Pump Am Corp. Bryan, Ohio

Arc Fluid Products announced the availability of a newly designed 3-in. port Diaphragm Pump. The new pump is part of the "Unstallable" family of Aro air-operated diaphragm pumps that feature the "unbalanced" air valve design, which enables the pump to dependably resume pumping, no mat-

ter how many times it is started and stopped. The pump uses air to ensure pump shifting, rather than magnets, springs, reset buttons, or other secon- dary activators that are used in other pump designs. High-flow applications, such as loading and unloading tanks, fluid filtration, batching, mixing and filling processes, dewatering, and was- tewater treatment can benefit from the pump's 275-gpm flow rate. Other pump features include ice-free opera- tion and bolted construction for a sure-fit seal.

Parts Separator for Mass Finishing Nova Finishing Systems Inc. Hatboro, Pa.

The Inseparator, a simple, easy-to- use parts separator for small vibratory deburrin~polishing equipment, is a low-priced manual system that is in- serted into a vibratory machine's work chamber bowl to remove parts from media. There is no need for secondary accessories, which involved stopping the machine and dumping the entire contents of the work chamber into other separation systems. This reduces material handling and avoids lifting and lurching of the work load prior to the actual dumping of the parts onto a screen system. Also, the Inseparator basket system can be utilized to hold and wash parts. In this capacity, the Nova equipment can be used as a parts washer, soak-type tank, or a spray system using the recirculating/dis- pensing system. To speed up cleaning,

turn on the vibratory cycle and all the parts contained in the work basket will rotate and move around and/or provide greater liquid and part agitation.

PC-6 safely and efficiently removes rust, corrosion, oxides, oils, grease, and stains from iron, steel, aluminum, copper, brass, nickel/silver, and bronze. It can be used as a cold soak for the removal of rust, scale, etc. on metal parts; comes as a liquid for easier and more efficient usage; contains wetting agents, extenders, water softening, and sequestering agents that permit PC-6 to penetrate and scour the surface of the metal being cleaned; and contains

inhibitors to protect the metal being cleaned and reactive phosphoric acid that lifts impurities from the metal 's surface. Unrinsed, PC-6 imparts a phosphoric coating to the metal 's sur- face for good paint adhesion. Environ- mentally sound and easily neutralized for disposal into sewers, PC-6 does not react with fiberglass tank liners or plastic tanks, is stable and long lasting, and does not emit toxic fumes.

Mobile Pumping System Vanton Pump and Equipment Corp. Hillside, N.J.

The availability of a unique tank-in- a-tank, all-plastic, self-contained mo- bile scrubber-neutralizing system for use during maintenance operations has been announced by Vanton Pump and Equipment. The system consists of a polypropylene sump pump set within a polypropylene cylindrical primary tank contained in a polypropylene rectangu-

the systems work entirely by com- pressed air. The 4500N is a compact single gun sprayer with an effective spray area of 300 x 300 mm. The 4700N is also compact and has the added advantage of twin gun operation allowing a base coat and top coat to be applied automatically. The effective spray area is 500 x 450 mm. The 4800N has an effective spray area of 600 x 600 mm (room for 15 panels) with automatic change-over from one

lar secondary tank. The pump is mounted on an air-tight rectangular polypropylene cover plate and is fitted with a PVDF educter connected to its discharge pipe. Polypropylene plug valves are attached to drain pipes leading from each of the tanks. All parts of the system in contact with the fluids are made of chemically inert thermoplastics. Even the stainless steel pump shaft is encapsulated with poly- propylene. Designed to permit the safe evacuation of corrosive or hazardous fluids trapped in transporting vessels and system piping during maintenance and repair operations, the entire system is mounted on a steel deck, epoxy- coated platform equipped with 6-in. diameter rubber tire wheels for easy maneuverability throughout the plant.

Fume Scrubber Tri-Mer Corp. Owosso, Mich.

Tri-Mer Corp. announces an impor- tant development in scrubber design for customers who are required to maintain extremely low stack emission values for contaminants including ni- tric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid, hydrochloric acid, chlorine, am- monia, and other common inorganic compounds. Tri-Mer's SCS (staged compression system) is capable of maintaining stack output levels below 0.004 ib/hr based on a 36,000-scfm flow, regardless of input loads. The SCS combines wet mass transfer with a

new gas compression technology de- veloped by Tri-Mer. The first wet mass transfer section removes the majority of the incoming contaminant load. The second gas compression stage is con- structed of a unique, rigid packing media, which forces scrubbing liquor through a series of tubular, membrane- type media. Standard construction is UV-stabilized polypropylene; options include PVC and steel alloys including 316 stainless; and capacities range from 50 cfm through 150,000 cfm.

contains no VOCs, has only a mild odor, and is very easy to apply without a worker health hazard. Applied as a dipping sealant at a 120-140°F tem- perature range, Dri-Touch W dries quickly, leaving a thin, nonoily protec- tive film. The coating has a semisolid consistency, which is soft enough to be self-healing if scratched but firm enough to adhere to the part surface without wicking into packaging mate- rials or draining off the part while stored.

Spang Power Control has introduced a solid-state contactor, which replaces conventional electromechanica] con- tactors and mercury relays. The SSC]00 provides control to resistive heating elements but it does not con- tain any mercury or other environmen- tally hazardous components. Unlike electromechanical contactors, the SSCIO0 has no moving parts and it can

perform millions of operating cycles. The on and off switching always takes place at the zero crossing of the voltage cycle, eliminating harmonics, RFI, and other electrical noise. The SSC100 accepts up to 480 VAC and provides an output of 100 A at 480 VAC maximum.

pH/ORP and Conductivity Control Great Lakes Instruments Inc. Milwaukee

Developed to measure and control pH, ORP, conductivity, resistivity, and dissolved oxygen, the new Series 63 analyzer features system diagnostics that continuously monitor key func- tions. The Series 63 automatically tests the sensor system and wiring for abnormal conditions and failure every ]/2 sec. For pH measurement, the diagnostics also check glass imped- ance, reference function, fouling po-

tential, preamp, and automatic temper- ature compensator. The new analyzer utilizes a logbook function that main- tains an active database, including historical and conditional data, as well as alarms. Combined with the system diagnostics, the logbook will predict sensor maintenance by determining the need to clean or calibrate the electrode system. The unit also provides warn- ings of existing or potential failures.
