We cruised up the Danube River on a seven night journey from Budapest to Passau experiencing incredible landscapes and history. My most memorable experience was a visit to the Benedictine Abbey in Melk,

Austria. Overlooking the town, the impressive Abbey was built back in the 1700s and is among the world's most famous monastic sites.

All The Sound of Music fans should visit Salzburg. You can enjoy a guided tour through the beautiful region where this classic movie was filmed.

Don’t miss Cesky Krumlov on the Vltava River. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a quaint little town which is steeped in history.

scenery is simply breathtaking. Maria Dunning was lucky enough to embark on one of Australia’s most spectacular rail journeys from Darwin to Adelaide on The Ghan.

We often forget what wonderful travel experiences we have on our door step and this journey is one not to be missed! You’ll be captivated by the red earth, glimpses of unique wildlife and captivating outback splendour.

Experience the open country at a relaxing pace, watching scenery roll by as you sip a beverage and chat to your fellow travellers in the lounge or in the comfort of your ensuite cabin.

Our journey started in Darwin, a city with an East Timorese influence, relaxed atmosphere and fascinating multicultural

population. I was pleasantly surprised at the city’s beauty and uniqueness.

A few hours north east is Kakadu National Park—a natural wonder defined by raw beauty and ancient history. We stayed at the Wildman Lodge, which offers a range of activities and exquisite food. I recommend you take a day tour on the Yellow Waters Lagoon to see crocodiles and birdlife. The bush tucker walk with Daryl, a local and staff member at the lodge, is also fascinating.

The trip south to Katherine provides a wonderful opportunity to experience Katherine Gorge and its waterfalls, wildlife and rock art.

Then, it’s on to Alice Springs where you may wish to visit Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kings Canyon, before catching the next departure to Adelaide. Don’t miss the amazing star gazing in Kings Canyon!

In Adelaide, be sure to take the time to visit the Barossa Valley wine region, Kangaroo Island and Australia’s oldest surviving German settlement—Hahndorf.

On to Vietnam, a country with a history of war and suffering, yet the people are so welcoming and friendly. Booking conditionsMake sure you are aware of the booking conditions before you pay a deposit. These are usually found on the back of the travel brochure. Read them carefully or ask your travel agent to explain them to you.

travel documentationPassports: Fill out your name and address in pencil in the area

of your passport that allows you to do so. Take a photo copy

of the first page of your passport and take it with you. Store it

in a safe place, away from the original, also leave a copy of it

behind. Most countries will not let you enter the country unless

you have at least 6 months validity.

Visa: Always make enquiries into whether it is a requirement to

obtain a visa to enter the country you are travelling to.

Tickets and itinerary: Check over and read your itinerary and

tickets carefully, and ask your travel agent for an explanation

of anything you do not understand. Leave a copy of your

documents behind with a relative or friend. Also ensure that

the airline reference numbers and tour booking numbers are
