what to see and do!The Picasso Museum, situated in the 15th Century Palau de Berenguer de Aguilar in Barcelona houses one of the most extensive collections of artworks by the 20th-century Spanish artist Pablo Picasso. With 4249 pieces of work by the painter, the museum has the most complete collection of works.

Nearest Metro: Arc de Triomf Station

The Sagrada Familia, Antoni Gaudí’s unfinished masterpiece, is one of Barcelona’s most popular attractions. Gaudi worked and lived here from 1883 until his death over 40 years later. The construction on this church will continue for at least a few more decades.

The Gothic Quarter is the centre of the old city of Barcelona. The area stretches from La Rambla to Via Laietana, and from the Mediterranean seafront to Ronda de Sant Pere. With attractions such as the Cathedrale, Museu d’Historia de la Ciutat, Museu Frederic Mares, and Placa de Saint Jaume is a must-see for Barcelona.

The Maremagnum is a fantastic complex to take your group to eat, shop, and take some time out of your busy schedule. With a cinema inside this complex it could be the ideal spot if the weather were to turn. Situated on the waterfront the complex is near an array of cafes, restaurants, and ice cream parlours.

what to see and do!Park Güell was built between 1900 and 1914 and designed by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. Park Güell is both interesting and beautiful. The garden complex is Gaudi’s ‘fantasy world of mushroom shaped pavilions, mosaic dragons and curious architecture’. This park will definitely inspire your students.

Casa Museu Gaudí, the Gaudí House Museum in Park Güell, was the place of residence to Antoni Gaudí from 1906 until late 1925. Today, this private centre is open to the public to give visitors a more intimate glimpse of the Catalan architect. The house conserves both the memory of Gaudí and many examples of furniture and other objects that he designed.

Another spectacular example of Gaudí architecture is Casa Milà, popularly known as ‘La Pedrera’ (the stone quarry). Group visits can even be arranged for the evening where students can discover the secrets hidden in Casa Milà after dark and become the fortunate witnesses of the lives and customs of the residents of this building 100 years ago.

Discover the excitement of the Camp Nou on a tour of one of the greatest clubs in the world. You can view the stadium from the grand-stand and the visit takes 1.5-2 hours. Guided tours in English are also available. You’ll experience the ‘History of Barca’ tour, see ‘Messi Space’, walk down the players’ tunnel, tour the ‘visitors changing rooms’ and visit the press room.

Joan Miro Foundation

The Joan Miró Foundation is a museum of modern art honoring Joan Miró, located on the hill called Montjuïc in Barcelona. The concept behind the Foundation was that Miró wanted to create a new building that would encourage younger artists to experiment with contemporary art.

Olympic stadium Museum

Barcelona was the 1992 venue for the Olympic Games, an event which radically re-designed the city.
