Generations of Giving For many generations, the community has been the strength of DeSoto Memorial Hospital. The extraordinary support began almost a cen-tury ago when a dedicated community physician built the fi rst facility to care for se-riously ill patients. In 1920, members of the community combined their resources to expand the original facility and establish a hospital. The community and its leaders took a courageous step in the 1960s, by replacing the older facility with a modern hos-pital. And again in the mid ’80s, the community was the force behind the million-dol-lar renovation that created one of rural Florida’s most ef-fi cient community hospitals. Through years of growth and generations of giving, DeSoto Memorial Hospital refl ects the community’s determination to support the hospital’s effort to provide exceptional health-care.
Providing for the FutureToday, we have the opportu-nity to build on the commu-nity’s tradition of giving and guarantee future generations the high quality medical care they deserve. Ensuring ExcellenceThe DeSoto Memorial Hospi-tal Foundation was established in January 2001 in an effort to continue providing excellent health care in the 21st century. The organization is designed to help ensure the hospital has the resources to continue serving the community with the latest medical technology and services available. The Foundation will also provide important information about the hospital’s progress to the community it serves.
