QUALITY
• What is Quality?• What does Quality Product mean?• Quality in Design.
• Example: Auto Industry - U.S versus Japan
- Just In Time
Azzam Al Rajhi
Quality (Just in time)
• Japanese Philosophy is used now by large Manufacturing Corporations
• The three primary aims of Just in time:• Long Term Competitive Position: Few trusted suppliers, Long Term
Contract with Key Customers• Improving The efficiency inside the Production Process: Clearing &
Simplifying, Locating, Cleaning, Discipline and Participation• Minimize the Wasted materials, time and efforts
• Pull System instead of push system which is driven by customer Demand. Two method of Pull system• Kanban method: Continuous demand• Hyprid method: Seasonal Demand
• No Long Waiting in Customers Order.

Rakan Aldeckmary
Safety – Testing for Safety
1. Engineering Testinga. Real time life testingb. Accelerated life testingc. Simulated User Study -Human factorsd. V & V Testing for software
2. ISTA Shipping & Storage Testinga. Environmental Shipping Conditions (Desert or Extreme Cold)b. High and Low Pressurec. Shock - Drop in packaged containerd. Vibration - Simulates vibrations during shipment e. Box Burst Strength f. Box Labeling
3. Product Safety Testing1. IEC - Test product by itself
i. 1 meter Dropii. Vibrationiii. Operational at elevated and low temperatureiv. Ball Impact testing v. Fluid Ingressvi. EMI / RFI / ESDvii. Labeling and Manuals

Liability - Types
1. Breach of Warrantyo Implied warranty of merchantabilityo Implied of fitness for a particular purposeo Express warranty
2. Negligenceo Design, Manufacture and Distributiono Standard of Care
3. Fraudulent misrepresentationo Intentional torto Negligent act
4. Strict Liabilityo Defective Product

Liability - Prevention
1. Top Managemento Formulate a company policy on product safety
2. Product Designo Incorporate safety as a design feature
