Working with our partners overseas and in the UK, Dentaid are on a continuing mission to meet the oral health needs identified in the many different communities where we work. We can only meet those needs with your support and assistance, because you’re passionate about dentistry, with a desire to see the dental profession extend its care to those most in need.
WELCOMEDentaid is a charity dedicated to eradicating dental pain around the world. We are supporting dental professionals working in some of the world’s poorest and most remote communities; enabling them to provide vital, pain-relieving dental care.

Dentaid are passionate about empowering dental professionals to make a real difference to people’s lives.
Whether we are providing dental therapists in East Timor with much needed dental equipment or enabling UK dental volunteers to go out to Uganda to train local dental professionals; Dentaid is empowering them to improve oral health conditions locally.
From the passionate volunteers signing up to Dentaid missions, to the dental practices fundraising for a DentaidBox, the dental community in the UK is key to the continuation of Dentaid’s work.

“We are a busy Practice with a great team that likes to take part in fun events. By raising money for Dentaid each year it gives us a focus for different and more unusual activities and helps to build a stronger team. Each event is very sociable and can be challenging but we feel a great sense of achievement when we have completed the event and raised money for such a renowned and worthwhile charity, Dentaid, especially as all the money is benefitting those less privileged with the provision of Dental Care.”

£1500 Will enable Dentaid to send a fully stocked DentaidBox to an oral health project overseas.
£500 Will allow Dentaid to send the portable dental chair in a DentaidBag with UK volunteers travelling overseas.
£400 Allows Dentaid to send the necessary instrumentation, a method of sterilisation and some consumables - all in a rucksack.
£300 Will enable Dentaid to send the essential extras that make up the full dental kit.

DENTAID OVERSEAS VOLUNTEERING EXPERIENCES Dentaid Overseas Volunteering Experiencesoffers the incredible opportunity for UK dental professionals to experience first-hand the oral health conditions in developing countries and get involved with Dentaid’s work to make a significant difference.
However these experiences do come with acaution! It’s not a holiday, conditions maybe tough, it won’t be what you expect, butyou will learn so much and it will quite possibly change your life.
One volunteer dental nurse describes her experiences in Uganda:
“Our clinic at the children’s prison saw us treat around 80 patients, mostly the children but some of the staff. Who knows how long some of these little ones had been in pain but it felt good knowing that amongst all of their other problems dental pain would no longer be one of them.We also visited a boarding school, and a male prison where the prisoners were our interpreters. In total we treated around 1000 patients and many, many more were triaged with either fluoride application or no treatment required. We did oral health talks and worked closely with the Ugandan dentists who joined us to discuss ways to promote better oral health in the area. I love my job but there is nothing like the appreciation of those who have nothing but a smile to give you in return for your work.”

In Uganda you’ll be joining the Dentaid teams who work alongside Ugandan dental professionals to provide dental outreach camps.These teams will set up the portable dental equipment in schools, prisons or rural clinics to provide free pain-relieving dental treatments and oral health education to all who come.

Dentaid teams are hosted by our partner charity,One-2-One. Your team will assist with One-2-One’s work providing dental care – treatment, prevention and education, to the underserved population in Phnom Penh and outlying rural districts.

Your Dentaid team supports the work of thedental department at the Queen ElizabethHospital in Blantyre. Some time may be spentworking at the hospital, working alongsideMalawian dental staff or helping to train dentalstudents. Other time will be spent conductingdental outreach in rural areas and providingoral health education in local schoolsand orphanages.

ZimbabweAs a Zimbabwe Dentaid volunteer you will provide dental care to communities who have very little dental provision. Your team will visit schools and clinics in rural areas, offering pain relief treatments and oral health education.

RomaniaDental teams are required in Romania to supportcharities working with underserved and forgottenfamilies within the Roma community. Essentiallyyou’ll be providing vital oral health education to children and their families and encouraging them to seek dental care from their local dentists.
