I THE MAN OF VISION AND ACTIONA decade and a half ago, many across the world likened Dubai’s econo-my to a bubble, claiming that the Emirate’s rapid economic growth and mega projects were bound to hit the land of reality.

It was partly because those people couldn’t really comprehend what was going on – the sheer size and scope of the projects the Emirate was an-nouncing and undertaking was so huge that they seemingly exceeded the needs of the Emirate itself, and indeed that of the entire region, while their declared goals seemed to be extremely over-ambitious.

As time went by, though, those fears receded when the jigsaw puzzle pieces started to fall into their right slots and the overall picture became clearer. Year after year, Dubai has been able to outdo itself, becoming a model many countries and cities are striving to emulate. The Emirate’s ambitions still seem much bigger than what has so far been achieved.

That ambition is not about building the world’s tallest tower or engineer-ing the deepest hotel, or about creating the largest shopping mall or even the grandest theme park in the world. All these and more are mere by-products of a vision that aims at transforming not just the landscape or the economy, but society. It is this vision that is redefining the way the world lives and plays.

GET LOST IN BASTAKIYAThere isn’t much of old Dubai left, but the city’s old town – the 19th century Bastakia Quarter – will transport you back to a time when the modern architectural wonders didn’t exist here.In Bastakia you’ll see some of the more tra-ditional Arabian stonework, including wind towers that were used to air-condition Arabic homes. Enjoy exploring this mini-maze on a journey back in time and seek out a traditional café for a refreshing mint and lime juice. In the morning after breakfast we start the tour by exploring the most modern structures of Dubai, Atlantis The Palm Jumeirah, Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach Hotel (outside view), Burj Khalifa (outside view only), Emirates towers, Twin towers, and Sky Scrapers on the Sheikh Zayed road. The afternoon will be spent at the famous Dubai Downtown, whereby one can see the world’s largest dancing fountains; the world largest shopping mall and also Burj Khalifa - the world’s tallest build-ing. These exquisite grounds include a promenade along the Dubai lake, plenty of restaurants to dine both indoor and outdoor, prow look-out, leisure forest grove, playing area, water features and much more.

DAY 3 TRADITIONAL & HISTORIC TOUR OF DUBAI & SHOPPING AT DEIRA CITY CENTRE MALL

The Traditional & Historic Tour provides you with a glimpse of a har-monious co-existence of different religions & cultures from all over the world, a great example of the tolerance & understanding of the Arabian culture. During the tour you will pass by the famous Mosque in Jumeirah & proceed through Jumeirah Beach Road so as to have a bird’s eye view of beautifully laid residential buildings. En route we will see the camel race track. The tour then winds its way onto the historic and romantic Dubai Creek. Dubai Museum offers a fascinating insight of the city in the pre-oil days. For all the gold lovers, the tour today will take us to the million – dollar glitter of the largest Gold Souk in the world. Adjacent to the Gold Souk we will also visit the Spice Souk ideal for all those who are after alternative shopping. There are also1 00’s of shops, such as electronics, gadgets and clothes to name a few at reduced prices. In the afternoon we go to Deira City Centre Shop-ping Mall ‘where you love to shop’. DAY 4 CHINESE DRAGON MART & 4 X 4 DESERT SAFARI

In the morning we head to the Chinese Dragon Mart, an ideal place for all those who really want to go bargain shopping. In the afternoon we will experience the spectacular Dubai desert. Driving through in a 4WD vehicle is simply exciting and adventurous followed by the majestic sand dunes experience on a roller coaster drive for the brave hearts. Another interesting factor is getting to know about the Bedou-in settlements and also the camel breeding farms. Upon arrival at the camp we will be greeted with a traditional Arabic Welcome followedby witnessing the beautiful desert sunset from the peak of the dunes. An Arabic coffee; tea or cold drinks are offered to us before we settle down in the camp. Camel rides and sand skiing are also available up till the time we are served a sumptuous BBQ dinner ending up the night with traditional Arabic “Belly Dancing” in the center stage. An ambi-ance of “One Thousand & One Arabian Nights” turns into a reality.

DAY 5 THE CAPITAL OF THE UAE, ABU DHABI & SHOPPING AT YAS ISLAND MALL OR OPTIONAL FERRARI WORLD

This full day tour today takes you to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, which is situated about 170 km southwest of Dubai. Many of the city’s striking examples of modern architectures show fascinating interpretations of Islamic themes captured in today’s materials. We learn everything there is to know regarding their oil industry – the so called “black gold” – and how it has transformed Abu Dhabi into the wealthy city of today. A reminder of the historical past is the renovat-ed Al Husn Palace – now home of the Centre of Documentation and Research. A drive along the beautiful Corniche gives a magnificent view of the city, followed by a visit to Heritage Village. A splendid buffet lunch is also included and later transfer to Yas Island Shopping Mall or visit Ferrari World (optional).

DAY 6 WILD WADI WATER PARK & OPTIONAL DINNER AT AL DAWAAR REVOLVING RESTAURANT

It’s wet! It’s wild! It’s Wild Wadi the wildest water park ever! It’s 12 acres of pure fun with 23 adrenaline - pumping rides that leave you gasping for more. Situated between the Burj Al Arab and The Ju-meirah Beach Hotel, Wild Wadi is a fantastic waterpark that should never be missed. From one adrenalin rush after another, try the 80km/h downhill hurtle on the 33m high Jumeirah Sceirah, the 1.5m high waves at Breakwaters Bay, the 170m white - knuckle ride at Rush down Ravine, or any of the 14 awesome interconnected rides. For the not so brave and the laid back, Wild Wadi offers hours of relaxation. It’s the perfect place to unwind, sit back and have a great time. In the evening special optional dinner at Al Dawwar, Dubai`s only revolving restaurant, which is located on the 25th floor of Hyatt Regency Dubai. It features spectacular views of the Arabian Gulf, the Creek and the city of Dubai.

DAY 7 MALL OF THE EMIRATES & DHOW DINNER CRUISE

Today we spend our morning at the Mall of the Emirates which is home to over 450 retailers and also features a complete range of entertainment options including Ski Dubai, the first indoor ski desti-nation in the Middle East, a two – level Magic Planet, the largest in-door family entertainment centre in the country, a 14 screen Cinestar Cinemas and the Dubai Community Arts and Theatre with a 500 seat – theatre and art gallery. It also has over 70 restaurants and coffee shops with everything from fast food to themed restaurants and ex-clusive dining alternatives. In the evening we have organized a dinner cruise. It is a great experience in a traditional boat “Dhow” cruising along the creek side witnessing the spectacular lights of Dubai at night. Across the creek you can see sophisticated, tall glass struc-tures that exist harmoniously alongside old Arab architecture. A wide spread international buffet is served during this romantic journey tak-ing you in to the glorious history of Arabian Sea trading.
