ACCA (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is the largest and fastest-growing global professional accountancy body with 404,000 students and 140,000 membersin 170 countries.

The ACCA qualification is designed to provide the accounting knowledge, skills and professional values which make finance professionals capable of building successful careers across all sectors. There are two examination sessions in June and December each year, and you can sit a maximum of 4 exams per session. The qualification is usually completed within three years.

GLOBAL RECOGNITION The ACCA qualification is recognised globally as being the most prestigious qualification in the accountancy profession. Becoming an ACCA member, will provide you with excellent career opportunities in practically any country in the world and will give you the right to use the ‘ACCA’ designatory letters after your name to confirm your professional status.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

ACCA offers you various entry points on to the ACCA Qualification, depending on your previous academic qualifications.

► Minimum Entry RequirementsTo register for the ACCA Qualification, the only one that grants the ACCA Membership, you should normally hold an university degree. Students that hold a relevant degree from ACCA accredited institutions may be exempt from all 9 exams of the Fundamentals level and start directly at the Professional level. Degrees that are not accredited by ACCA but still have some relevance may also qualify for exemptions. You can also enter ACCA via these routes:

► Mature Student Entry Route (MSER)MSER is available to students normally aged over 21 with either no academic qualifications or be in the process of obtaining one. They must pass the equivalent of papers F2, Management Accounting and F3, Financial Accounting within two years before further progress through the ACCA qualification is permitted.

►ACCA entry via the CAT qualificationFor this entry route an academic qualification is not required. Students joining ACCA should complete the Certified Accounting Technician qualification first and then transfer to the Skills Module of the ACCA professional scheme by claiming exemption from the first three papers in the Knowledge Module.

Fundamentals levelIt is divided into two key sets of modules that you must complete in order to pass the Fundamentals level andmove onto the Professional level:

Knowledge module - three papers that introduce you to the core areas of finance and management accountingand give you a platform to develop your skills at the next level.

Skills module - six papers that test you on key technical skills that you must master to become a qualifiedaccountant including Law, Performance Management, Taxation, Financial Reporting, Auditing and FinancialManagement.

Professional levelThe Professional level is the final step towards the ACCA qualification and is equivalent, at an academic level, to aMasters degree, consisting of:

Essentials module – three compulsory papers that build upon the technical skills you have acquired at theFundamentals level. They explore advanced professional skills, techniques and values that you will require to bean expert accountant in an advisory or consultancy role at a senior level.Options module – you must complete two out of these 4 exams which focus on applying your knowledge andskills in two specific areas of your choice.

BSc in Applied AccountingIt is possible, while preparing for your ACCA exams, to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Accountingawarded by Oxford Brookes University in the UK. You are eligible to undertake the Oxford Brookes BSc projectafter completion of the Fundamentals level.

To obtain your BSc you need to:►Complete a Research and Analysis project based on a 6,500 word report on a topic suggested by Oxford

ACCA are updating their syllabus, effective from the June 2011 examinations with the exception of the Knowledge module. This isn't a major syllabus change so there is no need to worry. This is just an update to ensure the qualification is relevant and aligned to the latest business and accounting sector needs. BPP ACCA ADMINISTRATION SERVICEAs an ACCA student you will have to fulfil several tasks such as registering for exams and paying your student fees, within the deadlines. BPP is offers you further support backed by our extensive experience in managing ACCA students’ accounts, through the BPP ACCA Admin Scheme. If you are a BPP student, the admin service is part of you training package.

If you wish to benefit from our admin service, but are not a BPP student, the fee is 100 GBP / session.

This means that BPP will:

The Highest Caliber Tutors

Stuart Whent qualified as a Chartered Accountant in UK in 2002, going on to work for Shepherd Neameand Barclays before joining BPP. Stuart specializes in Financial Reporting and Audit. Stuart first joined BPP in 2003 and between March 2009 and September 2010 he was the Managing Director of BPP Romania. In September 2010, Stuart was appointed as Director of Operations for Central and Eastern Europe. Stuart is a member of ICAEW and a fellow of ACCA.

Dorina Badea is ACCA qualified, has extensive experience in setting-up various finance companies including a bank, an insurance broker, a leasing and a consumer finance company by elaborating strategies and monitoring performance. Dorina is specialised in Financial and Management Accounting areas.

Juan Gamecho graduated from the Cardiff Business School before beginning a career in investment banking in the City of London. In 1999 he joined the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development in Romania. Juan has been working with BPP for a number of years and specialises in management strategy.

Simon Emery joined BPP in 1989 specialising in Financial Reporting and Auditing subjects teaching across all major worldwide accountancy qualifications including ACCA. Simon was Head of UK Regional offices between 2002-2009.

Otilia Mantelers is ACCA qualified teaching for various tailored programmes, public courses as well as for different international professional qualifications, such as ACCA, DipIFR and DipFM and she also specialises in Financial Reporting.

Waldemar Majek specializes in financial and internal audits and in internal control. Since 2004, Waldemar has been an ACCA member and starting with 2009 he is a member of the ACCA Auditing Committee.

Richard Gibbon is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) having qualified with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Manchester, UK. As a tutor, Richard specialises in financial management, management accounting and international financial reporting.

Madalina Ion is specialised in the audit of banks and other financial institutions. She is ACCA qualified, member of the Romanian Chamber of Auditors (CAFR), Body of Experts and Licensed Accountants of Romania (CECCAR) and holds a master degree in Applied Microeconomics.

Mike Turner joined BPP International in Romania in 1997. He holds a US CPA qualification from Los Angeles. He became Managing Director of BPP Hungary in 2005. Since 2008 Mike has been teaching courses on U.S. GAAP and international public accounting standards to NATO as a freelance lecturer.

The ACCA courses will take place at the BPP Professional Education office, located in the centre of Bucharest, in Romana Square. Our office has six comfortable, fully equipped training rooms as well as refreshment facilities, which are for the exclusive use of BPP students. Our location does not generate an additional costs for our clients.
