•1976 Parliament officially removes death penalty from Canada’s Criminal Code & in 1987 defeats appeal to have it reinstated.

•Supreme Court of Canada speculates that the death penalty is against The Charter of Rights and Freedoms

•Extraditions to states still pursuing the death penalty have posed difficulties to Canadian Abolishment Policy.
