Prayer for Lent God of all peoples and nations, you accompany us on our Lenten journey. Through the life and mission of your son, you give us the gift of mercy. May we learn to walk your way of justice and compassion with all your people. In a special way, we keep in mind the children, women and men around the world who are most vulnerable to extreme poverty and injustice. Bless our prayers, our fasting and our Lenten gifts to Project Compassion. “ASPIRE NOT TO HAVE MORE, BUT TO BE MORE!” HARMONY DAY-MARCH 21ST The theme of Harmony Day is everyone belongs, and encourages people to participate in their community, respect cultural and religious diversity and foster a sense of belonging for everyone. Children are asked to bring a light coloured t-shirt to school —white or pastel colour—on MONDAY 19TH MARCH. On March 19 and 20, the children will then decorate them with images and words about living in harmony. They will then wear them to school on Wednesday 21st March. Dear Parents/Carers, Staff and Students, Yesterday we gathered to celebrate Catholic Education Week and the beginning of the school year. Fr Rene reminded us that even though there may be challenges, disappointments and worries throughout the year, Jesus is with us always. Jesus is there in the good times and bad. Today a small group of students attended the Catholic Education Week mass with Archbishop Denis Hart at St Patricks Cathedral. Over 1000 students were present to celebrate and give thanks for the great work that is done in our Catholic schools here in the Archdiocese of Melbourne. The theme of the mass was ‘ Open new horizons for spreading joy’, which speaks of the wonder and hope that education brings to all. You may have noticed that your child’s teacher has had some days out of the classroom this term. This is so that they can take part in professional learning, which ensures that they are up-to-date with the latest improvements and initiatives in education. They also have time out of the classroom to complete assessment tasks on the children they are teaching. Rest assured, they leave a detailed program for the relief teacher to follow to ensure the children’s learning is ongoing and without interruption. Please keep the following children in your prayers as they prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on April 20: Holly, Stella, Jacob, Kevin L, Daniel Jacob, Steven, Lien, Ryan, Devaras, Frances, Isabella, Cassey, Annie, Kevin D, Mary, Hilary, Hayden, Tich-Lam, Moada, Sarah, Tim, Beatrize, Jack Have a great week everyone.
