Tennessee School of Beauty has now partnered with the internationally

acclaimed Make-up Designory to offer their ‘Beauty Make-up Artistry’

training course. Our MUD Studio courses are based on the same great

educational methodology and teacher training that has helped make

MUD a bedrock in make-up education. The courses are pulled from the

same curriculum that comprises the longer programs at MUD, but are

broken up into smaller modules. These modules can be taken separately

or combined, allowing you to transfer your education to one of MUD’s

main campuses in NYC or LA.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROGRAM LAST? For cosmetology, it’s just 10 short months (for a full-time student)! Compare that to a four year degree program. Just think, by this time next year you should have passed your boards and be Working your passion!

WHAT IS THE AVERAGE INCOME OF COSMETOLOGISTS? A random survey of 22,500 salons across the U.S. showed that the average income is $38,583 for licensed cosmetologists.

WHAT ARE THE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS?Applicant must have attained a high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) and be at least 16 years of age. In addition, you need to be friendly, creative, dependable, free of communicable diseases, and have a desire to succeed as a salon professional.

REGISTRATIONWe recommend registering 2-4 weeks before desired class starting date.

WHAT ARE THE HOURS?Our hours are Tuesday-Friday from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm for your first 8 weeks. Once you become a senior stylist, you will also attend every other Saturday from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm. Day classes can be completed in as little as 10 months. DO YOU HAVE NIGHT SCHOOL?Yes. Most night school graduates can expect to graduate in 18-19 months (cosmetology). Night school classes are offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5:30 pm until 9:30 pm AND on Saturdays from 8:30 am until 4:00 pm. This is the perfect class schedule for those who are working in another field, stay-at-home moms, or night owls! The cost is the same as the day school. See the tuition section for pricing.

WHEN DO CLASSES START? New Cosmetology classes will begin on the first Tuesday of each month except July. We limit the size of all classes, so get busy and register soon.*

* Applicants who wish to apply for grants or loans are advised to make an appointment to come in for assistance at least four to six weeks in advance of planned starting date.

TUITION HOW MUCH IS IT? Tuition for the complete cosmetology course is $14,995.

HOW CAN I PAY FOR IT?You may pay in full with cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, or Discover. Also, we will be glad to set up a payment plan (see below). Grants and loans are available to those who qualify. To apply for grants, loans, and other financial assistance, refer to the Financial Assistance information for details.

Plan I: $4995 down, $150 weekly Plan I includes an initial payment of $4995 – this is due on the first day of class. To the remaining balance of $10,000, we add a one time finance charge of 5% ($500). The remaining balance of $10,500 can be paid on a weekly basis of $150 per week until the balance is paid in full.

Plan II: $7495 down, $575 monthlyPlan II includes an initial payment of $7495 – this is due on the first day of class. To the remaining balance of $7500, we add the one time finance charge of 5% ($375). The remaining balance of $7875 can be paid on a monthly basis of $575 per month until the balance is paid in full.

ARE THERE ANY ADDITIONAL COSTS? All students are required to purchase a training kit, which includes all of your textbooks, reference materials, printed training notes, and all of the cosmetology tools you will need. We offer this to all of our students at the discounted rate of $1000. The kit includes hair shaping shears, blending shears, razor, curling iron, flat iron, hair dryer, mannequins, manicuring tools, and much, much more! The only other costs will be a $99 technology fee and your uniform. All additional costs will need to be paid in full on the first day of class. WHAT IS THE REFUND POLICY?A student (or in case of a student under legal age in Tennessee, his/her parent or guardian) may cancel his/her enrollment, in writing, within three business days after an agreement/contract has been signed and all monies will be refunded. The cancellation date will be determined by the date on written notification, or the date on the information delivered to the school

administrator/owner.

If a student cancels their enrollment after the three business days of signing but prior to entering classes, they shall be entitled to a refund of all monies paid to the school.

If a student is not accepted by the school, all monies paid to the school will be refunded.

For students who enroll in and begin classes the following schedule of tuition adjustment is authorized:

Training equipment and personal supplies are listed as separate items. They become yours upon payment and are non-refundable.

DO YOU OFFER FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE?Yes, because TSB is nationally accredited, students accepted for admission are eligible for financial aid through programs established by the federal government under the Aid to Education Act. Some of these programs are listed below.

FEDERAL STUDENT AID (PELL GRANT) Grants provide money to help students further their education and skills after high school. For many students, these grants provide a foundation of financial aid to which aid from other federal sources may be added. Unlike loans, grants do not have to be repaid. To apply for the grant, please visit www.studentloans.gov, create a personal pin number, and then go to www.fafsa.ed.gov. You may also apply here at TSB. If asked, our school code is 009567. This application is FREE….please do not apply at any sites that require a payment to process your FAFSA. Currently, the maximum Pell Grant award is $5920. If you have questions, please call us and we will be happy to assist you.

FEDERAL STUDENT LOANSTennessee School of Beauty cosmetology and esthetics students may also apply for a Federal Student Loan (aka Direct Loan). This loan program is a loan that does not have to be paid back until 6 months after the student leaves school. The maximum loan for a student considered independent for financial aid purposes is currently $9500 and $5500 for a dependent student. To apply, please go to www.studentloans.gov and complete the Entrance Loan Counseling and then sign the Electronic Master Promissory Note (E-MPN). Please print these out and bring them to the school with you. As always, if you have any questions, please call us and we will be happy to assist you as this process can sometimes be a little overwhelming.

PRIVATE STUDENT LOANSDue to our long history and outstanding success record, TSB is one of only a handful of cosmetology schools nationwide that has been approved by Sallie Mae to be part of their private loan program. This loan is available for all of our courses (Cosmetology, Nails, Esthetics, and Instructor Training). There are many similarities between the federal loan and the private loan, however, one of the main advantages of the private loan

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

is that students may borrow their entire cost of training, plus up to 60% more than their cost of tuition in order to help with living expenses while they are in school. Visit them online at www.salliemae.com.

REHABILITATION SERVICE This aid service may be available to applicants who have, or have had, a physical or emotional disability. For those who are eligible, it is possible that your full tuition could be paid, regardless of family finances. Where family financial ability justifies, all training costs, including a monthly maintenance grant, may be authorized by the agency.

VETERANS’ BENEFITS Tennessee School of Beauty has met the standards set forth by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission and the Veterans’ Administration, and is now an eligible institution for Veterans’ benefits. Eligible students should contact the VA office.

DO YOU HAVE NIGHT SCHOOL? Although we do not have a night class scheduled, based on demand, we may add an evening class. If so, the hours will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm and Saturday from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm and may be completed in 31 weeks. ARE THERE ANY FINANCIAL LOAN PROGRAMS OFFERED?TSB has been approved by Sallie Mae to be a part of their private loan program. For those that qualify, you may borrow the full amount needed for school, as well as up to 60% more than the cost of training to help with living expenses. BUDGET PLAN: $1495 DOWN, $110 WEEKLY $995 is due on the first day of class plus $500 for your supplies for a total of $1495, leaving a balance of $2000. To this balance we add a one-time 5% finance charge of $100. A payment of $110 will be paid on a weekly basis until the balance is paid in full.

Tennessee School of Beauty is the only school in the state offering its Nail Students a full-time Nail Instructor. Most schools just have their cosmetology teachers work with their nail students, but at TSB, all of our Nail students have a dedicated nail instructor at their side for the entire time they are in class.

Tennessee School of Beauty’s nationally accredited Esthetics program is available for those interested in becoming a licensed skin care professional. Whether you want to work for a dermatologist, plastic surgeon, medi-spa or a day spa, this is where you need to begin. We also offer the only Paramedical and Laser Training courses in the state, which are only available to TSB graduates.

WHAT IS THE AVERAGE INCOME OF AN ESTHETICS GRADUATE? The average income is $37,154 for a full-service salon and $40,126 for a specialized salon and this does not even include tips.

WHAT ARE THE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS? Applicant must have attained a high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) Certificate and be at least 16 years of age.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROGRAM LAST? The program can be completed in as little as 20 weeks. Classes are offered Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. All students must complete 750 hours of training.

DO YOU HAVE NIGHT SCHOOL? Based on demand, we try to offer an evening esthetics course one time per year (beginning on the last Tuesday in September). The schedule for the evening course is Tuesday - Thursday from 5:30 pm - 10:30 pm and Saturdays from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm. You can graduate in approximately 36 weeks. The tuition for the evening program is the same as for the daytime program. Please see the next page for details on pricing.

FEDERAL STUDENT AID (PELL GRANT) Grants provide money to help students further their education and skills after high school. For many students , these grants provide a foundation of financial aid, to which aid from other federal sources may be added. Unlike loans, grants do not have to be repaid. To apply for the grant, please visit www.studentloans.gov, create a personal pin number, and then go to www.fafsa.ed.gov. You may also apply here at TSB. If asked, our school code is 009567. This application is FREE….please do not apply at any sites that require a payment to process your FAFSA. Currently, the maximum Pell Grant award for the esthetics program is $4500. LOANS There are two types of loans available to those TSB esthetics students who qualify. One type of loan is the federal loan (aka Direct Loan). This is a low interest rate loan that does not have to be paid back until 6 months after the student leaves school. To apply, go to www.studentloans.gov, complete the Entrance Loan Counseling , complete the Electronic Master Promissory Note (E-MPN), print those out and bring them to the school. The other type of loan is a private student loan through the Sallie Mae Corporation. Although this loan is income and credit-based (co-signers are often needed), one of the main advantages of the private loan is that students may borrow the entire cost of their training, plus up to 60% more than their cost of tuition in order to help them with living expenses while they are in school. WHEN DO CLASSES START? New esthetics classes begin three times per year (January, May, and September). For specific starting dates, please refer to the cosmetology section. The esthetics program’s starting dates are listed there. We limit class size to only 18 people and classes usually fill at least 30 days prior to starting date, so get busy and register soon.

HOW MUCH IS IT? The cost of tuition is $8995, plus an additional $1000 for textbooks and supplies, as well as a $99 technology fee.

You may pay in full with cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, or Discover. Also, we will be glad to set up a payment plan, and loans are available to those who qualify.

BUDGET PLAN: $4995 DOWN, $675 MONTHLY $4995 is due on the first day of class plus $1000 for your supplies for a total of $5995. To the remaining balance of $4000, we add a one-time finance charge of 5% ($200), leaving a balance of $4200. A payment of $675 is due each month until the balance is paid in full.

BECOME A MUD CERTIFIED MAKE-UP ARTIST MUD makes continuing your education easy and convenient.

Recognizing the need of working make-up artists and other industry professionals to be able to broaden and increase their knowledge, Make-Up Designory has created a series of part-time courses. These courses are held conveniently at MUD’s main campuses, MUD Studios and Partner Schools throughout the country and internationally.

MUD Studios courses are based on the same great educational methodology and teacher training that has helped to make MUD a bedrock in make-up education. The courses are pulled from the same curriculum that comprises the longer programs at MUD NYC and LA, but are broken up into smaller modules. These modules can be taken separately or combined, allowing the student to transfer their education to one of MUD’s main campuses.

CERTIFICATIONSMake-Up Designory has courses and groups of courses to meet just about any need. Most of the classes below require Beauty Essentials as a prerequisite. All classes are also offered as continuing education for make-up professionals. We have developed our courses to build upon one another so that students will benefit from the combined materials and the progressive nature of the curriculum. Students are allowed to take any combination of classes they may deem necessary; however, we strongly urge students to speak with an Admissions Advisor to ensure the student is choosing classes that will help their career goals. We created a group of programs that illustrate possible combinations that are designed to provide comprehensive training in various aspects of make-up artistry. Students who complete Beauty Essentials will be certified as a Level I Make-up Artist. Students who complete Beauty Essentials, Airbrush, Bridal Make-up, Studio Make-up, and High Fashion Make-up Trends will receive the Level II Make-up Artist certification and become eligible to transfer to a main campus program having completed the equivalent of Beauty 101: Fundamentals of Beauty Make-up. Students who complete Beauty Essentials, Airbrush, Bridal Make-up, Studio Make-up, High Fashion Make-up Trends, and Special Effects Make-up will receive the Level III Make-up Artist certification and again be able to transfer to a main campus program. However, this program is designed as a comprehensive program to meet the needs of students staying in the local market. Please note that some classes and programs may not be available at all locations. A Certificate and Card are awarded for successful completion of any course or group of courses.

PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS WITH QUALITY EDUCATIONEach course kit requires specific tools for your class while helping to build your kit for professional use. Inside your kit, you will find MUD products and course materials. Each kit contains a unique serial number used to track your progress and ensures your appropriate certification.

ENROLLMENT PROCESS In order to enroll in any Make-Up Designory (MUD) course of study, students must first complete a student application form. This must be submitted with payment of the application fee. Students in all courses must be at least 18 years of age or have parental consent.

BRIDAL MAKE-UP ARTISTThis program is designed for the person looking to start a career as a make-up artist for brides and events. The program incorporates all elements of the Level I Make-up Artist program and we include airbrush and bridal make-up.
