OVERVIEW

The purpose of this document is to provide an overview of the new WebSentinel Plus monitoring software.

A key factor in keeping any automation system performing at its

best is the ability to monitor performance, and diagnose system

component problems in order to maintain high levels of continuous

operation.

To maximize system uptime, plant maintenance requires a tool that

delivers real-time monitoring, diagnostics, and queries. The tool

must present detailed information either locally or from a remote

location.

WebSentinel Plus is a very advanced monitor and information

collector. It offers key features, benefits, and insights to end-users

and System Integrators specializing in Factory Automation and

Transportation and Logistics.

WebSentinel Plus builds on the best features of the former WebSentinel (Datalogic brand) and FAST Monitor (Accu-

Sort brand) products to provide real-time statistics, diagnostics, quick viewing of parcel activity, and amazing

reporting capabilities.

It is a supervisory software solution for monitoring operational activities of reading devices through a single web

browser-based interface. It collects data from scan points through an Ethernet TCP/IP network, and presents the

information flow as visual onscreen information. It also stores this information in a database and, periodically or

on demand, produces performance, diagnostic, and tracking reports.

WebSentinel Plus provides visibility to enterprise controlled automated systems from a high level view of the

facilities performance down to a detailed view of any specific device.

WEBSENTINEL PLUS FRONT PAGE

One of the best WebSentinel Plus features is the pragmatic approach to displaying information. The user doesn’t

need to jump from one page to another to watch critical variables. All the most important parameters are

displayed on one screen.

At a glance, the front page consists of three main sections: a site view, a dashboard tab (displaying scan point

real-time statistics, package activity, and a diagnostic table) and a reporting tab.

The Site View menu allows the user access to dashboard information for:

Several Facilities/Sites

A specific Facility/Site

Primary and Secondary systems

Scan Points (Individual scanners and Tunnels/Arrays

Individual devices within a tunnel/array.

It also shows a status indicators next to each scan point and device menu item.

By clicking on the Facility name the user is redirected to the Site View dashboard.



By clicking on the scan point name the user is redirected to the Scan Point View that allows the user to see a

dashboard with information and for a specific named scan point within a site, for a selected time period.

The Scan Point View dashboard also has direct button links to the scan point device information in graph form for

Read Rate, Dim Rate (Dimensioning), Multi-Read, No-Read, and No-Dim.

The package activity and error table shows, in a quick look, information about the latest parcels (barcodes read,

reading mask, time, and dimension information) and scan point diagnostics.

ENHANCED DATA FILTERING

A key component for data manipulation is the ability to filter and extract only the needed information from a

database. WebSentinel Plus provides a powerful reporting feature with outstanding query capabilities.

The Report tab is the entry point to the stored base of data.

The standard report types enable the user to generate:

Reading statistics

Bar code tracking at both enterprise and facility levels

Package search based on several attributes like No-reads/Multi-reads, Dim/No dim, unexpected size,

parcel gap, date and time, or shift

Event information

Reading charts

Advantages over the previous WebSentinel version are:

Bar code lookup across several scan points at the same time



Enterprise view, managing several sites (formerly WebSentinel plants) at the same time, then barcode

lookup across several facilities in one shot is now possible

Ability to link WebSentinel PLUS Servers located in several different facilities through use of the internet

One WebSentinel PLUS Server (at one facility) is designated as the MASTER, and the other WebSentinel PLUS

Servers in the system become its Slaves, and each has a copy of the MASTER’s Global Database.

IMAGE BROWSING

Image browsing is supplied along with the reporting feature. Once the records are filtered, selecting just one of

them displays the parcel details. When Datalogic brand imagers are used to save images, the parcel image is part

of the result page. The package details page shows bar codes read, timestamp, dimensioning info, and all the

saved images.

Web Sentinel Plus is an amazing tool for applications that require storage of huge quantities of data and images

for a long time period. This feature is more and more required by tender specification for large projects.

TYPICAL LAYOUT

Several setups can be deployed according to the application needs. Usually the scan points talk to the WebSentinel

Plus by messaging over the LAN network and, as option, sending images.

Other network layouts (MAN, WAN, …) can be used if the bandwidth is enough reliable to support the throughput.

Multiple scan points to one WebSentinel Plus server: This is the most common layout to store scan data and

images, if requested, according to the available disk space. For long term image storage an external NAS

(Network Attached Storage) can be linked.



One scan point per WebSentinel Plus server: For more complex applications, big data or in case of communication

exchange between servers (for instance Enterprise view). For long term image storage an external NAS can be

linked. The amount of NAS and the network layout can vary according to storage requirement and link distances

to the server room.

Web Sentinel Plus is a transversal tool that works for any Datalogic Industrial Automation business. It allows

integration of most of the available devices such as the Matrix series, AV7000, NVS9000, DM3610, SC5000,

SC6000, 8K series, 6K series, 4K Series, 2K series, and hybrid systems.

WebSentinel PLUS is a software tool that can be deployed on Datalogic supplied hardware or on Customer

supplied hardware.

The software is distributed on a USB stick, while the license file is sent in reply to an email to

[email protected] with the product serial number.

An order entry, when only the software is sold, is the same license P/N. A USB drive with an installer will be

delivered.
