HistouyDarul Uloom Zakariyya (formerly Madrasah Zakariyya) was established as a Religious and Charitable trust in 1983.

On the historical visit of Sheikh-ul-Hadith Moulana Muhammad Zakarriya Kandhelwi (RahmatullahAlayh) to South Africa in 1981 (1402 A.H), he was requested to make Dua for the establishment of a Darul Uloom for the preservation and propagation of Islam. This ignited a spark resulting in this Dua becoming a reality.

MissionA. To establish the teachings of The Qur’an

al-Kareem, the Sunnah of Rasulullah (Sallallahu’alaihi Wasallam) and his Noble Companions, the Shariah (Islamic Legal Code) as expounded by the four schools of jurisprudence and the Aqa’id (doctrine) of Islam as expounded by the Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama’ah.

B. Rendering service, by word of mouth and in writing, in the propagation and dissemination of Islam as well as in the preservation and protection of Deen.

C. By means of education and propagation, to bring alive in Muslims the character, deeds and passion displayed by the best of generations and the pious predecessors.

VisionTo impart higher Islamic education to the Muslim community and to prepare scholars who will selflessly, sincerely and humbly serve humanity.

GoalThe ultimate aim of all of the above is to acquire the pleasure of Allah Ta’ala.

Facoltices The DarulUloom has five faculties of Study: 1. Hifdhul-Qur’an - The Memorization of The Qur’an

al-Kareem2. Aalimiyah - Study of Islamic Jurisprudence and

Sciences3. Tajweed and Qira’aat - Science of Qur’anic

Phonetics and Renditions (Sabah and Asharah)4. Iftaa – Specialisation in the Science of Islamic

Jurisprudence and Research5. Arabic Adab - Specialisation in Arabic Literature

Buanc ces:A branch of the Darul Uloom was opened in Eikenhof, a locality some 13 km away, in the year 2000, catering for the needs of approximately 100 young Hifdh learners.

Statistics:Since inception, with the Tawfiq of Allah Ta’ala, the Darul Uloom has produced 1219 Huffadh, 1105 Ulama, 501 Riwayate Hafs, 245 Qira’aat Sab’ah and 61 Qira’aat Asharah graduates. (April 2018)

Co & Extua-Couuicolau activitices: The Darul Uloom strongly encourages the students to actively participate in Islâh & Tarbiyah (Self-Reformation), Dawah & Tabligh (Call and Dissemination of Faith) activities. Classes in Astronomy are conducted on a weekly basis and forms part of the Aalimiyah program. Students are equipped with oratory skills and regularly conduct Jummah lectures and Khutbas in the Masaajid of nearby vicinities.

Facilitices:The DarulUloom houses a DarulIftaa, Library, Book Shop, Clinic, Boarding, Laundry, Canteen, Kitchen & Dinning Hall, Recreational Facilities and Guest Rooms.

Poblications:Various books covering a wide range of topics have been compiled and printed by the Darul Uloom in Arabic, Urdu and the English Language. An online newsletter covering miscellaneous topics such as Seerah, Tasawwuf and Masaa’il from Fataawa Darul Uloom Zakariyya is sent weekly to subscribers.

Al Mat af (T ce Mosceom):Motivated by an aspiration to promote an easier understanding of the traditions of the Noble Master, Muhammad (Sallallahu alayhi Wasallam), an Islamic Museum was opened in 2014. The facility is home to replicas of a number of items cited in the Ahaadith. An interactive model of Masjidun Nabawi, another of Madinah Munawwarah in 7 AH,a 3D Cross section of the Noble Ka’bah,a model of Masjid ul Aqsa as well as Quraanic Pages some 800 - 900 year oldare some of the many displays which are sure to ignite the flames of Seerah in ones heart. A visit not to be missed...
