sectors in assisting and maximizing their technology.

principal activities

DAPAT Vista was established in 2000 to serve

the demands for mobile interactivity and to

spearhead the development of innovative

and dynamic “mobile data based” services and

products. Clients using our products and

services will gain a competitive edge by

having new channels to reach their

consumers.

Together with our parent company, Television

Airtime Services, an established media group

in the broadcasting and advertising industry,

DAPAT Vista is able to offer comprehensive and creative mobile marketing and

advertising tools to assist organizations in implementing interactivity into their

business strategies.

Businesses spent millions on advertising, promotions and publicity for a purpose

– to reach out to as many potential customers in the most effect manner. Now,

businesses are asking, is there a better way for customers to reach us compared

to the traditional modes of fax, phone and internet? Yes, it is short coded SMS.

The reasons are obvious. Firstly, there are at present 27 million handphones

compared to 4.3 million fixed phones; and almost all handphone users know

how to use SMS. As a result, SMS traffic has grown by 8 times from RM0.5 billion

in 2003 to RM4 billion in 2007. SMS has now become a code mode of

communication.

Page 5: Dapat Profile May 09

Secondly, short coded SMS enables messages from senders to be lodged into

an IT infrastructure, bringing about hosts of IT applications. These include

request for information, database query, electronic payment, reservation and

many things one seeks to achieve over the internet. Therefore, SMS is not only

IT compliant, it is also simpler to use and reaches a higher cross-section of the

population with its 27 million users, compared to 11 million internet users.

Thirdly, as a converged tool for telephony and computing, DAPAT enables both

consumers and businesses to be contactable 24 by 7. In the old way, office

phones and even many call centers are inoperational at certain hours while the

internet is only usable at fixed locations. SMS merges both benefits.

Despite the above advantages, SMS short code is still a number and numbers

are hard to remember. The solution is DAPAT.

As a shortcode, DAPAT comprises the first letter on the handphone’s

alphanumeric keypad representing

the shortcode 32728, thus it becomes

easy to remember. As a business

solution, DAPAT has a purpose-built

suite of services to bridge the

communication gap between

organizations and consumers.
