• In the past 10 years, the number of people aged 65 and over in England has

increased by 1.4 million, a 17% rise

• There is a 17% rise in people reaching their 80th birthday

Madano, commissioned by the British Red Cross investigated:

• the changing context of the commissioning of Independent Living Services and how this

affects voluntary providers in this space

-move to integrated commissioning, responsibility now falls to Local Authorities and CCGs but it’s

not yet clear who is responsible for what

-the impact of the Care Bill is not yet clear, but opinion is positive

• What do users’ require from independent living services?

-personalised care but what does this mean to users?

Research skills to analyse demand, trends, preferences etc.
