WELCOME TO DANIEL PRINCE where we bring together some of the finest master craftsmen in the jewellery industry. Our revolutionary approach has attracted the attentions of the jewellery devotee, fashionable socialites and discerning clients from around the world. We are quite simply the new generation of fine jewellery manufacturers.

We specialise in providing an enviable personalised bespoke engagement and wedding ring service. Creating exquisite pieces to individual specifications, using only the rarest of precious gemstones sourced from London, Antwerp and New York. The quality, exclusivity and above all; value for money provided by Daniel Prince is second to none; each ring is individually hand made to custom-fit not only you but the diamond, ensuring a perfect fit and secure setting; and because we have no need to carry stock or maintain expensive showrooms you can be sure that when compared to any high street jeweller you will make significant savings because we sell direct from the workshop to you.

HOW DO WE DO IT? Simple: Everything is made to order, we carry no stock and do not need to pay for and maintain expensive showrooms or shops. We are the manufacturers of rings, and traditionally have always sold to wholesalers, who in-turn sold to the shop owners that sell to you. Typically this long list of middle-men would mark up the jewellery price by 300% to 400% between them. This relationship has changed very little in the last 100 years, but with the advent of the Internet, prestige manufacturers of sophisticated jewellery such as ourselves are able to sell directly to the public, cutting out the middle-men and bringing handmade jewellery to people at much more affordable prices. Of course, not all of the shop owners welcome our new approach because it means we compete directly with them at prices they cannot match (we sell at approximately ½ the price of a typical shop!)

Understanding Diamonds The price of a diamond is directly affected by the 4Cs (the 4 characteristics of a diamond used throughout the world to classify the rarity of the stone). Different properties in the cut, colour, clarity and carat weight of a diamond greatly influence the rarity of the stone, and therefore the price. It is only the sum total of these, and other lesser known characteristics that will determine if a diamond is a true gem or just commercial grade.

Diamond cut is perhaps the most important of the four Cs. A good cut gives a diamond its brilliance. The angles and finish of any diamond are what determine its ability to handle light, which leads to brilliance. When a diamond is well-cut, light enters through the table and travels to the pavilion where it reflects from one side to the other before reflecting back out of the diamond through the table and to the observer's eye. This light is the brilliance we mentioned, and it's this flashing, fiery effect that makes diamonds so mesmerising. Too Deep Ideal Too Shallow

    Colour & Clarity

Colourless diamonds are the most desirable since they allow the most refraction of light . Most diamonds contain some inner flaws, or inclusions, that occur during the formation process. The visibility, number and size of these inclusions determine what is called the clarity of a diamond. Diamonds that are clear create more brilliance, and thus are more highly prized, and priced.

    Understanding Diamonds

Carat-Weight A carat is the unit of weight by which a diamond is measured. One carat is equal to 200 milligrams, or 0.2 grams. Because large diamonds are found less commonly than small diamonds, the price of a diamond rises exponentionaly to its size.

Diamond Certificates A certificate is a "blueprint" of a diamond, it tells you the diamond's exact measurements and weight, as well as the details of its cut and quality. It precisely points out all of the individual characteristics of the stone. Certificates also serve as proof of the diamond's identity and value. Note that a certificate is not the same thing as an appraisal. A certificate describes the quality of a diamond, but it does not place a monetary value on the gem. There are many diamond labs that issue certificates, but the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and the American Gem Society (AGS) as well as the European Gemological Laboratory (EGL) are the most widely regarded and recognised diamond grading labs in the world. All diamonds sold by Daniel Prince will be certified by one of these labs.

Recommendation As far as diamonds are concerned, ideally you should be looking at the colour range D - F (colourless/rare white) and clarity of SI1 and above. SI1 is clean to the naked eye and impurities within the diamond are only visible under magnification. By considering diamonds down to the SI1 clarity range and lower down the colour scale you will get a higher carat diamond. So you see there are plenty of permutations to tailor the ring to suit your budget. We recommend diamonds of colour F and clarity VS2 as a great compromise of quality and value.

Bespoke Service After your initial inquiry by phone or email we will help you get a better idea of your style and budget. We can provide you with some sample pictures and through a series of in-depth discussions we will hone the fine detail of your requirements. We can then provide a cost estimate and if appropriate we can even provide a sketch to help you firm up your thoughts and to reflect the design of the finished piece. Once you confirm your order it will usually take between 10 to 15 working days to complete your commission.

All of our rings are individually hand made to custom-fit both you and the diamond, ensuring a perfect fit and secure setting. We never make use of low quality mass- produced components like most other jewellery manufacturers because we believe that the traditional methods of metalworking and the bespoke fitting of diamond settings always give superior results that will last generations.

Some customers have expressed their concerns that commissioning a ring may cost significantly more than their budget. You needn't worry, we will always work to the budget that you specify; tailoring the design accordingly. We will guide you every step of the way so that you are making informed choices at all times.
