WELCOME TO DANIEL PRINCEwhere we bring together some of the finest master craftsmen in the jewellery industry. Our revolutionary approach has attracted the attentions of the jewellery devotee, fashionable socialites and discerning clients from around the world. We are quitesimply the new generation of fine jewellery manufacturers.

We specialise in providing an enviable personalised bespoke engagement and weddingring service. Creating exquisite pieces to individual specifications, using only the rarestof precious gemstones sourced from London, Antwerp and New York. The quality, exclusivity and above all; value for money provided by Daniel Prince is second tonone; each ring is individually hand made to custom-fit not only you but the diamond, ensuring a perfect fit and secure setting; and because we have no need to carry stock ormaintain expensive showrooms you can be sure that when compared to any high streetjeweller you will make significant savings because we sell direct from the workshop toyou.

HOW DO WE DO IT?Simple: Everything is made to order, we carry no stock and do not need to pay for andmaintain expensive showrooms or shops. We are the manufacturers of rings, andtraditionally have always sold to wholesalers, who in-turn sold to the shop owners thatsell to you. Typically this long list of middle-men would mark up the jewellery priceby 300% to 400% between them. This relationship has changed very little in the last 100years, but with the advent of the Internet, prestige manufacturers of sophisticatedjewellery such as ourselves are able to sell directly to the public, cutting out themiddle-men and bringing handmade jewellery to people at much more affordableprices. Of course, not all of the shop owners welcome our new approach because itmeans we compete directly with them at prices they cannot match (we sell atapproximately ½ the price of a typical shop!)

Understanding DiamondsThe price of a diamond is directly affected by the 4Cs (the 4 characteristics of adiamond used throughout the world to classify the rarity of the stone). Differentproperties in the cut, colour, clarity and carat weight of a diamond greatlyinfluence the rarity of the stone, and therefore the price. It is only the sum total ofthese, and other lesser known characteristics that will determine if a diamond is atrue gem or just commercial grade.

Diamond cut is perhaps the most important of the four Cs. A goodcut gives a diamond its brilliance. The angles and finish of anydiamond are what determine its ability to handle light, which leadsto brilliance. When a diamond is well-cut, light enters through thetable and travels to the pavilion where it reflects from one side to theother before reflecting back out of the diamond through the table andto the observer's eye. This light is the brilliance we mentioned, and it'sthis flashing, fiery effect that makes diamonds so mesmerising. Too Deep Ideal Too Shallow

Cut

Colour & Clarity

Colourless diamonds are the most desirable since they allow the most refraction of light . Most diamonds containsome inner flaws, or inclusions, that occur during the formation process. The visibility, number and size of theseinclusions determine what is called the clarity of a diamond. Diamonds that are clear create more brilliance, and thusare more highly prized, and priced.

Understanding Diamonds

Carat-WeightA carat is the unit of weight by which a diamond ismeasured. One carat is equal to 200 milligrams, or 0.2grams. Because large diamonds are found lesscommonly than small diamonds, the price of adiamond rises exponentionaly to its size.

Diamond CertificatesA certificate is a "blueprint" of a diamond, it tells you the diamond's exact measurements and weight, as well as thedetails of its cut and quality. It precisely points out all of the individual characteristics of the stone. Certificates alsoserve as proof of the diamond's identity and value. Note that a certificate is not the same thing as an appraisal. Acertificate describes the quality of a diamond, but it does not place a monetary value on the gem. There are manydiamond labs that issue certificates, but the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and the American Gem Society(AGS) as well as the European Gemological Laboratory (EGL) are the most widely regarded and recognised diamondgrading labs in the world. All diamonds sold by Daniel Prince will be certified by one of these labs.

RecommendationAs far as diamonds are concerned, ideally you should be looking at the colour range D - F (colourless/rare white)and clarity of SI1 and above. SI1 is clean to the naked eye and impurities within the diamond are only visible undermagnification. By considering diamonds down to the SI1 clarity range and lower down the colour scale you will geta higher carat diamond. So you see there are plenty of permutations to tailor the ring to suit your budget. Werecommend diamonds of colour F and clarity VS2 as a great compromise of quality and value.
