Essentials and Operation principle of the Weft Straightener

◎ Essentials

The weft straightenter straightens the twisted weft of the woven fabrics which resulted from several processes of

bleaching, washing and dyeing. It can locate and adjust at right angle to the junction between fabric’s weft and

organzine. The weft straightenter is installed before the stenter or printing M/C. It makes the fabric have the best

quality that stentering or printing after correcting the latitude.

◎ Operation principle of the weft straightener

When transmitting, the light is reach to the lens through the fabric slit and the sensors in various angles. Then it

checks out the strongest signal in 11 angles to detect the status of fabric and rectify automatic by the correcting

part (skew and bow roller).

◎ Control condition of the weft straightener

The machine to correct the primary weft status of various fabrics (kind of line and weft status etc.) under any

condition (such as fabric speed) needs accurate detection and good control.

◎ Constitution of the weft straightener

1. Detection When transmitting, the lens centralize the light which penetrated from the slit. Then it checks out the strongest

signal by PHOTO-CELL in various detection angle. We combine every detector together to detect the status of

fabric. In the early stage, the worker should select the density of texture to use Densimeter in Texture density

choice Type. And now it developed to the Fixed slit Type that no need to select density. The other methods

are Rotation slit type (BIANCO, Italy), Oscillation slit type (MAHLO, Germany), Densimeter type and Zoom

slit type (SEIREN, Japan) etc. It can detects accurately only according to the thickness and array of silt. The

best method is to narrow one point of the weft. The combination of the Zoom silt type that can change thickness

and the Rotation slit type that can change array is used for detecting various fabrics. The Fixed slit type is used

in Korea. The accuracy also affected by the number and angle of sensors. The range of angle are ± 13.5° and ±

10°. Dividing those angles into 11 or 15 portions can work out the accuracy of running (± 15°).

2. Controller According to the light that penetrated from the silt, we adjust the detection properly. The weft straightener

acquires the status of fabric and control the rectifying part by the signal that comes from detection to straighten

both skewed & bowed weft status. Because the fabric have slickness and retractility, so it can’t rectify accurately

according to detection angle just by rectifying part. It can rectify the fabric accurately just by controlling the

rectificatory periods (start the periods of rectifying part by working speed), rectifying capacity (according to the

change of angle), position, sensor, angle of detection and the comparison of rectifying.

3. Rectifying Part It is constitutive of skew roller and bow roller that rectify the skewed and bowed distortion. The maximum

correcting capability is decided by the number of rollers, movement and the bow of roller. On the stage, the

maximum skew correcting of weft straightener is 34 percent of the breadth, and the maximum bow correcting is

9 to 11 percent.

4. Tension adjust device The bow roller is driven according to M/C speed. It can avoid the skewed and bowed weft status and wrinkling

badly. It is used for detecting the fabric that is sensitive to tension(such as knitting and spandex etc.).

2. Controller & Rectifying Part

3. Tension controller and other devices Tension controller drives the bow roller to control tension by detecting the revolutions of roller under the

detection. There have two bow rollers. You can select the mode of two bow rollers driving together, only one

driving or used none. MAHLO uses no bow roller in most cases. YESS drives one bow roller only. And others

drive two bow rollers. The modes of installing are fixed with setscrew and leveled with sole screw. The former is

used in Europe. The latter is used in Korea & Japan. The DAEIL Machines adds the guide roller to cushion

attack.

◎ A good weft straightener is a machine that can straighten the twisted weft of different fabrics under different process conditions (just as M/C speed etc.)

We hope that our weft straightenter can straighten the twisted weft of all kinds of fabrics. The weft

straightenter on the stage detect the weft status by penetration or reflection. The fabric will be changed

because of the weave, sort of line (changed when boiling), machine speed and even variety of chemicals. So

you should select the weft straightener which can automatically straighten more fabrics under different

process conditions at first. Then you compare the price, trouble rate and after sales service, etc.

3. Skew Processing : A function to turn wefts in the specific state.

- Good for any defect caused by differences in both Stenter chain or for fabrics which require for wefts to be

turned.
