CYBER STALKING

The OXFORD dictionary defines stalking as “ pursuing stealthily ”.

Cyber stalking is the use of internet or other electronic means to Stalk or Harass an individual, a group of individual, or an organization.

It may include accusations, monitoring, making threats, identify theft, damage to data or equipment.

Law AGAINST CYBER STALKING

IPC, IT ACT 2008 UNDER SECTION 72 is most provision of regulating cyber stalking in India

DATA DIDDLING

Data diddling involves changing of data prior or during input into a computer, means unauthorized changing of data on a computer system.

Include forging or counter fitting document, use for data entry & exchanging valid Tapes &Disc with modified replacement.

SALES OF ILLEGAL ARTICLES

This would include trade of Narcotics, Weapons and Wildlife etc, by posting information on websites, auction website and bulletin, bulletin boards or simply by using E-mail communications.

Daily people receiving so many emails with offered banned and illegal products for sale.

CYBER DEFAMATION It can be understood as the intentional

infringement of another person’s right to his good name.

Cyber defamation occurs when defamation takes place with the help of computer or the internet.

Defamation laws vary from countries to countries and in state like Canada, US, Australia. The law vary from provenance to provenance and state to state. Therefore plaintiffs may have the luxary "forum shopping" or choosing the jurisdiction with the laws most favourable to him/her.

PREVENTION OF CYBER CRIME:

Prevention is always better than cure. The 5P mantra for online security: Precaution, Prevention, Protection, Preservation and Perseverance.

1.To prevent cyber stalking avoid disclosing any information pertaining to oneself.

2.Always avoid sending any photograph online particularly to strangers and chat friends as there have been incidents of misuse of the photographs

3.always use latest and updated anti virus software to guard against virus attacks.

4.never send your credit card number to any site that is not secured, to guard against frauds.

5.always keep a watch on the sites that your children are accessing to prevent any kind of harassment or depravation in children. 6.use of firewalls may be beneficial.

Conclusion

The only possible step is to make people aware of their rights and duties (to report crime as a collective duty towards the society) and further making the application of the laws more stringent to check crime.
