He is also Professor of Computer and Information Science at the University of Michigan – Dearborn. He received his PhD in Computer Science from Virginia Tech, USA in 2004. Dr. Medjahed was awarded the prestigious 2019 Michigan Distinguished Professor of the Year award by the Michigan Association of State Universities (MASU). This award recognizes the outstanding contributions and dedication exhibited by the faculty from the State of Michigan’s public universities. Dr. Medjahed also received several other reputable awards including three (3) best research paper awards, the University of Michigan – Dearborn Distinguished Teaching award, the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) Excellence in Teaching award, and the Outstanding Graduate Research award at Virginia Tech. His research focuses on advancing the state of the art in managing service-oriented software. In particular, he is interested in exploring solutions for service integration in emerging environments such as cloud computing, the Internet of Things, big data, mobile computing, and crowdsourcing. Dr. Medjahed is regularly invited to give presentations about his research at several universities and companies around the world. He has more than 100 publications in premier journals and highly competitive conferences as well as two (2) books published by Springer. His research is funded through multiple grants from federal agencies and industry. Itintroducesthefundamentaltechnologies,platforms,andmethodsthatenablebigdataanalysis,andcovershowtoacquire, store,andanalyzevery largeamountsof information tocompleteBigDataanalysistasks.Studentswillgainhands-onexperienceinreal-worldapplicationsofBigDatasuchas incyber-physicalsystemsandhealthinformatics.Mostoftheworkinthiscoursewillbeteam-basedandtask-oriented.
