1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Aim of the Course The aim of the course is to enable personnel with little or no experience to operate a CSI System. 1.2 Summary of Training Requirements The course for the baseline CSI 17.x is a single standing course, not necessarily linked to other CSI Courses. 1.3 Eligibility Students for the CSI Operator course do not need to have basic knowledge about MS Windows, UNIX and Solaris, although this knowledge would be desirable. 1.4 Duration The duration of the course is 27 hours taught over 5 days. 1.4.1 Effective Training Time The lessons will go from 09:00 till 16:00 every day. On Fridays the lessons will go from 09:00 till 12:30. 1.4.2 Non-effective time The students will have to travel from the Hotel to NPC premises on their own. Coffee breaks (if duty allows) 10:00 – 10:20 and 15:00 – 15:20. Lunch 12:30 – 13:30. Small breaks will be at the discretion of the instructor. 1.5 Security Classification Since the course is done in a NATO Secret environment, the students must provide a copy of their Security Clearance before entering the NPC premises. Without a Security Clearance the students will not be able to attend the course. 1.5.1 The Slides

NATO CONFIDENTIAL 1.6 Sponsor The overall Sponsor of the CSI Operator Course is the Commander of NPC.



1.7 Training Executive The overall responsible for the conduct of these courses is the Chief CSI Section. The responsibility can be delegated to another person if required. 1.8 Course size The maximum numbers of students is set to 8 due to workstations and instructor availability. Seats for observers (no workstation) are available. Minimum number of students is set to 5. 1.9 Additional Information 1.9.1 Location The CSI Operator Courses will run at the NPC in the classroom B47. 1.9.2 Nominations for Course Students will be assigned by the national training POCs. Nations requested seats during the CSI Support Conferences. The NPC Training Section will invite each CSI Training POC to nominate their participants according to their assignment of requirements. 1.9.3 Trade Qualification Annotation The students on the CSI Operator Courses will receive a certificate indicating that they have participated in the CSI Operator Course. 1.9.4 Gender Terminology Where the masculine gender is used (e.g. when a student has a problem he is to…) it is actually applicable to both genders.

2 ASSESMENT STRATEGY Pre-Requisites: The students are required to have no formal background. Learning assessment: The CSI Operator Training is based on learning by doing. Assessment of whether the student has reached the training objective is performed in an active dialog between student and instructor, mainly during the practical exercises.
