President’s Message

How does it all go by so fast?! And how do I

summarize all that I have gained over the last two years

in my last President’s message (my 18th one!)? In the

beginning, I admit I may have thought (once or twice)

“What did I get myself into?”. And then “What did I

get myself into for two years?!”

This is a bittersweet moment for me as I’ve come to

call CSES my “second home”! LOL! Yes, that has two

meanings – I spent quite a bit of my time at school! But

more importantly, CSES felt like home! You (the staff

and parents) have supported me in too many ways to

count! You welcomed me every single day. You were

happy to see me every single day! You didn’t run

because I was associated with the PTA!

I’ve made so many lasting friendships. I’ve learned

how to manage people, manage events, manage

budgets, resolve conflicts, plan meetings, plan agendas,

work with students, solicit sponsors, recruit volunteers,

speak in front of an audience, manage a calendar, and

so much more! I hope I’ve been a role model for my

children and your children. Giving my time as a

volunteer has rewarded me back so many times over!

I would encourage all of you to volunteer when you

can and where you can! Volunteering has given me a

great purpose the past few years and really has meant

the world to me! So, thank you all for allowing me to

be a part of CSES!

As a parent, I am so thankful that we landed here 8

years ago when we moved to Roanoke. Both my

children attended CSES and thrived. I am beyond

thankful for everyone who touched their lives! I may

shed a tear when Caitlin walks across the stage at the

promotion ceremony. But good things must come to

an end.

And it’s all been good!

Thank you CSES!

Thank you to all for sending in your Box Tops for the Spring 2018 Box Tops For Education submission. Our Spring submission earned $198.10! This brings our total Box Tops earnings to just under $1000!!! Small things add up BIG! You can continue to send in your Box Tops. We will have a summertime submission. Please put them in baggies and be sure to check expiration dates! Please don't use collection sheets unless your child will be heartbroken not to! Current Box Tops are 2017 and after! If you are interested in helping to count Box Tops for the school you can email Rebecca at [email protected]. The baggies will be provid-ed to you along with easy instructions. It will most likely be a small amount of Box Tops to check for expiration date, count into groups of 50, and place into baggies marked with a Sharpie. As our program has grown, we are looking for extra help. This is a great job for parents that work and are looking for a "behind the scene" way to help out at their own schedule! Please consider shopping at www.smile.amazon.com when you are planning to shop Amazon. You can earn our school .05 percent of your purchase. Simply go to www.smile.amazon.com and select Cave Spring Elementary on your first visit. If you have not yet linked our school to your Kroger account, please do so by going to Kroger.com/Community Rewards, then select Cave Spring Elementary. This

must be renewed each year!
