Whether you’re crocheting sandals for her first Easter pictures, flip-flops for your little guy’s day at the beach, or even some Mary Jane-inspired comfies, these pint-sized shoes all start with this same sole pattern.

Sole Pattern (Will be used for all 4 variations)

Ch 8

R1: 2 hdc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in next 5 sts, 4 hdc in the next ch st, 1 hdc in next 5 sts (working in the round on the back side of the chain), 2 hdc in next st (18 sts)

R2: Ch 2, 1 hdc in the same st, 2 hdc in the next st, 1 hdc in the next 5 st, 2 hdc in next 4 st, 1 hdc in next 5 sts, 2 hdc in the next 2 st. (26 sts)

SUPPLIESYarn: I Love this CottonHook: G/6 4.25mm Pattern is written for size: 0-6 months

Creating Soles• Following the pattern for soles, crochet 4 in color A.• Taking 2 sole pieces, sew wrong sides together using a tapestry needle. Note that heel will be slightly narrower than toe area – match the pieces accordingly. • Repeat for remaining 2 pieces. • Weave in ends.• For best results, sew together using a running stitch under the “V”s on the edge of the soles.

Toe StrapUsing color B• Sl st into sole piece, just to the left of the first round of sole. • Ch 14, 1 hdc into 2nd ch from hook. 1 hdc into next 8 ch sts. 1 sc into each of the next 3 sts. Sl st into remaining chain st. • Cut and weave in ends. • Loop toe strap over ankle strap and secure with coordinating yarn.

Left Sandal

HeelUsing color B

Flower (make 2) Using color C• Ch 5, join with a sl st in beg chain to form a loop. • 10 sc into loop, join with sl st, cut and weave in ends.

Using color D• Join using sl st.R 1: *Ch 4, sk next st, 1 sl st into next st. Repeat from * 4 times placing final sl st into your beginning st. R 2: Working into chain space: *1 sc, 1 hdc, 3 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc. Sl st into st from previous round. Repeat from * into each chain space around until you have formed 5 petals. Cut and weave in ends.

Attach flower to toe strap of sandal with coordinating yarn.

Best FootForward

Ankle Ties• With color B- *sl st into center of toe strap. • Chain 26, cut yarn and knot the end to finish. • Repeat from * to create second ankle tie.

Ankle Loops• With color B- Count 3 stitches from center of heel, sl st into sole and ch 8. Sl st into beginning stitch to form a loop. • Cut and weave in ends. • Repeat from * on opposite side of sandal. • Run ties through loops to secure.

Attach toe strap to sandal sole• Count 8 sts back from center of sole piece. • Repeat on opposite side, making sure that the "V" of the strap is pointed toward the front of the sole . • For RIGHT sandal, attach “V” of strap to the left of round 1 of the sole piece, with shorter side to the left.

• For LEFT sandal, attach “V” of strap to the right of round 1 of the sole piece, with the shorter side to the right. • Cut and weave in all ends.

Heel StrapCh 16• 1 sc into 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each st across. • Cut and tie off yarn. • Using coordinating yarn, sew one end of strap directly behind the stitch where you placed the toe strap. • Repeat with other end of heel strap on opposite side. • Cut and weave in ends.

Color A: PewterColor B: Glowing

Strap 1• Sl St in next 2 border sts (toward front of sole)• Ch 12, Join with a slip stitch in sole directly across foot bed - or 2 stitches from heel strap.• Turn work and hdc 12 sts into each ch across. Join with sl st in beginning ch.

Strap 2• Sl St in next border sts (toward front of sole)• Ch 10, Join with a slip stitch in sole directly across foot bed - or 3 stitches from strap 1. • Turn work and hdc into next 10 sts. Join with sl st in beginning ch.• Tie off and weave in ends.

Contrasting Border on Straps: Left shoe

Strap 1• Using Color C, Sl st into (the border stitch in front of ) strap 1, work 12 sl sts in (BLO) down one side of strap, Sl st into border stitch (same space used to secure straps).• Working along opposite side of strap, work 12 sl sts along strap. Sl st into border stitch.• Tie off and weave in ends.
