Creative Toolkit 2019www.nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk/newchaptersbegin
An exciting new chapter in the proud histories of the Royal Hospital for Sick Children and the Department of Clinical Neurosciences will begin in July 2019 when services move to a purpose–built home at Little France, Edinburgh.
The stunning new world-class £150 million Royal Hospital for Children and Young People and Department of Clinical Neurosciences is located next to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh on the Edinburgh BioQuarter campus, Little France, on the south side of Edinbugh.
From July 2019, it will deliver local, regional and national services in some of the most modern and best designed healthcare facilities in the world. The new building is connected to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Locating paediatric care, specialist neonatal care, neurosciences and both Emergency Departments on one site reduces the need for emergency hospital transfers between hospitals, and ensures that our teams can share expertise for the benefit of all our patients.
These moves come with excitement and anticipation as they are taking place later than originally planned. We hope you agree that it has been worth the wait.

WHAT’S HAPPENING?The Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh (including the Emergency Department) closes its doors to patients on Tuesday 9 July 2019.
If a child (up to 16 years) that you care for requires emergency treatment from 8am on 9 July 2019, you must go to the new hospital next to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, Little France.
WHEN IS THIS HAPPENING?The transfer of patients and hospital equipment from the existing hospitals to the new building starts on Friday 5 July and continues until Monday 15 July 2019.
Most patients will be transferred by ambulance and accompanied by a member of staff.
WHY ARE YOU TELLING ME?To help these moves run as smoothly as possible and to prevent anyone turning up at the existing Emergency Department, after it closes at 8am on Tuesday 9 July 2019, the New Chapters Begin Campaign will run between 28 May 2019 to 18 August 2019. It invites everyone in Edinburgh, East Lothian, West Lothian and Midlothian, Scottish Health Boards, Scottish Government, Integrated Joint Health and Social Care Partnerships, Local Authorities, Schools, Nurseries, Community groups, Partnered Charities, Pharmacies, GP Practices, Dental Practices and Opticians, to share the moving dates with their own audiences through their own channels.
THE ASKGetting involved couldn’t be easier.
This is the New Chapters Begin Campaign Digital Toolkit and it contains everything you need to get involved and support this hospital move.
We have put together a few handy tools, including promotional wording, sample social media posts and developed campaign assets, so you can help us achieve our ambition to reach every family accessing our services at least once before the moves happen.

PARKINGWe encourage patients, staff and visitors to use public transport, whenever possible.
If you do visit the site by car, there are a number of car parks across the Edinburgh BioQuarter campus.
In addition to these car parks, there are dedicated ‘drop off’ spaces near the main entrances.
A limited number of parking spaces close to the hospital are available to book in advance of some planned appointments.
Access to these spaces (known as ‘close proximity parking’) will be granted on the basis of clinical need and therefore cannot be guaranteed. Details on how to book ‘close proximity parking’ spaces will be included in appointment letters.

THE LOGOThere are three versions of the logo that may be used, depending on application. These can be reproduced in either cyan, white or black. The logo immediately identifies the New Chapter Begins campaign and is our most valuable campaign asset. It is important that our logo is reproduced correctly and consistently at all times as shown below.
Exclusion ZoneAn exclusion zone must be kept around the logo the height of the ‘NEW CHAPTERS’ element as illustrated below. This zone extends outwards from the entire logo. Nothing must interfere with the logo in this area.
The logos must NEVER be stretched horizontally or vertical. (always hold down the shift key whenever resizing).
