Creation Science

A Brief Look At Genesis

• Try to imagine total emptiness. No sky. No land. No heat. No light. No sign of life. No objects. Total emptiness

• How did emptiness become a complex, orderly universe?

• In Genesis, God takes us back to the beginning. He reveals how the universe began.

• He does not provide us with the scientific text, documented with step-by-step procedures and a rigid timeline.

• Rather, God reveals himself to be the sovereign Creator of all matter and life.

Genesis 1:1• This verse introduces us to the God and takes

us back to the start of our world.• It doesn’t define who God is, where he came

from, or what he looks like.• The verse offers the simple truth that God

was in existence even before the beginning• If we believe that God really did create all

things, then we an also believe that he controls our lives and can accomplish his plans for us.

Topic I: Is There Really a God?

• Some may ask, “Who created God?”• The bible makes it clear in many places that

God is outside time. He is eternal, with no beginning or end. (Psalm 90:2)

• Is it logical, though, to accept the existence of such an eternal being?

• What evidence would we expect to find if there really is an infinite God who created all things and is omnipotent (all-powerful)?

How Do We Recognize the Evidence of Intelligence?

• One would never look at the Great Wall of China, the US Capital building, or the Sydney Opera House and conclude that such structures were formed after a spontaneous explosion.

• Design is everywhere. It would never enter our minds that metal left to itself would eventually form into engines, transmission, and wheels to form an automobile.

• God is the Master Designer

Living Things Show Evidence of Design!

• Scientists who reject the concept of a Creator God agree that all living things exhibit evidence of design.

• Isaac Asimov, an anti-creationist, declared “In man is a three-pound brain which, as far as we know, is the most complex and orderly arrangement of matter in the universe.”

Page 7: Creation Science A Brief Look At Genesis. Try to imagine total emptiness. No sky. No land. No heat. No light. No sign of life. No objects. Total emptiness

• Dr. Richard Dawkins, has become one of the world’ leading evolutionist spokespersons. He said. “ We have seen that living things are too improbable and too beautifully ‘designed’ to have come into existence by chance.”

• If these scientists like Dawkins, reject “chance” in design, what do they put in place of “chance” if they do not accept a Creator God?

Who-or What- Is the Designer Then?• To a Christian, the design we see is totally consistent with the

Bible. – Genesis 1:1– Colossians 1:16 (Tomorrow’s Memory Verse)

• Dawkins argument…Design called “blind forces of physics” and the forces of natural selection.– A master creator would design with foresight with future purpose.– Natural selection is blind, unconscious, and an automatic process.– (Textbook pg. 10-11)

• Basically Dawkins, states that natural selection and mutations together provide the mechanism for evolution.

• However, he believes these processes are nonrandom and directed.

Page 9: Creation Science A Brief Look At Genesis. Try to imagine total emptiness. No sky. No land. No heat. No light. No sign of life. No objects. Total emptiness

Does Natural Selection Produce Design?

• Life is built on DNA.• Therefore to argue that natural selection and

mutations are the basic mechanism for evolution, it should be evident in the DNA of living things.

• Observable natural selection only operates on the information that is already contained in the genes. Nothing New is Added!!

Page 10: Creation Science A Brief Look At Genesis. Try to imagine total emptiness. No sky. No land. No heat. No light. No sign of life. No objects. Total emptiness

• This is consistent with the Bible, in that God created distinct kinds of animals and plants, each to reproduce after its own kind.

• For example, wolves, coyotes, and dingoes have developed over time as a result of natural selection operating on genes in the wolf/dog.– No new information was produced.– The genes have just been rearranged,

sorted out, and separated from the original dog kind.

– One kind has never been observed to change into a totally different kind with information that previously did not exist.

Page 11: Creation Science A Brief Look At Genesis. Try to imagine total emptiness. No sky. No land. No heat. No light. No sign of life. No objects. Total emptiness

Can Mutations Produce New Information?

• NO!!• Dr Lee Spetner stated, “..in all the reading I’ve

done in the life-sciences literature, I’ve never found a mutation that added information. All point mutations that have been studied on the molecular level turn out to reduce the genetic information and not to increase it.”

• (Textbook pg. 15)

Page 12: Creation Science A Brief Look At Genesis. Try to imagine total emptiness. No sky. No land. No heat. No light. No sign of life. No objects. Total emptiness

• Dr. Werner Gitt said, “This idea is central in representations of evolution, but mutations can only cause changes in existing information. There can be no increase in information, and in general the results are injurious.”

More Problems!

• Imagine sitting in a 747 flying 500 mph at 35,000 feet and reading about the construction of the airplane. You realize that not one single part of the airplane can fly alone.

• However, when assembled correctly they work together to fly the plane.

• The human body is very similar to this analogy.

Page 14: Creation Science A Brief Look At Genesis. Try to imagine total emptiness. No sky. No land. No heat. No light. No sign of life. No objects. Total emptiness

• Scientists have found that within the cell there are thousands of “biochemical machines”.

• In order for cell responses, there must be numerous compounds in the right place, at the right time, in the right concentration.

• Therefore evolution from chemicals to a living system is impossible.

• Dr. Michael Behe stated, “The simplicity that was once expected to be the foundation of life has proven to be a phantom; instead, systems of horrendous, irreducible complexity inhabit the cell. The resulting realization that life was designed by an intelligence is a shock to us in the twentieth century.”

Why is it that when we squish a mosquito it doesn’t come back to life?

You have disorganized it. Once the “machinery” was destroyed, the organism could no longer exist. It can’t come back together to form a new mosquito.

Page 16: Creation Science A Brief Look At Genesis. Try to imagine total emptiness. No sky. No land. No heat. No light. No sign of life. No objects. Total emptiness

A Greater Problem

• Many argue that as long as all the chemicals that make up the molecule came together in the past then life could have begun??

• Life is built upon information.• In just one of the trillions of cells that make up

the human body, the amount of information would fill at least 1,000 books of 500 pages of typewritten information.

Page 17: Creation Science A Brief Look At Genesis. Try to imagine total emptiness. No sky. No land. No heat. No light. No sign of life. No objects. Total emptiness

• Where did all the information come from?

• How long till we spell a word? Make a sentence? Make an encyclopedia?

Page 18: Creation Science A Brief Look At Genesis. Try to imagine total emptiness. No sky. No land. No heat. No light. No sign of life. No objects. Total emptiness

• The sequence of letters is a word to whom??– English, Dutch, French, German, Chinese, Korean

• It is only a word to someone who knows the language. The order of letters is meaningless unless there is a language system and a translation system already in place.

• DNA without a language system is meaningless, and the language system without the DNA wouldn’t work either.

Page 19: Creation Science A Brief Look At Genesis. Try to imagine total emptiness. No sky. No land. No heat. No light. No sign of life. No objects. Total emptiness

Can Information Arise from Noninformation?

• “There is no known law of nature, no known process and no known sequence of events which can cause information to originate by itself in matter.”

• Therefore, we can conclude that the huge amount of information in living things must have come from intelligence.

• But then, some would say that source would have to be caused by something with even greater intelligence.

• This could go on for infinity.• (Textbook pg. 21)

Page 20: Creation Science A Brief Look At Genesis. Try to imagine total emptiness. No sky. No land. No heat. No light. No sign of life. No objects. Total emptiness

• Which is harder to believe?– Matter came into existence by itself for no reason and

then arranged itself into information systems against everything observed in science.

– God of the Bible, the source of infinite intelligence, created information systems for life to exist>

• If real science supports the Bible’s claims about an eternal Creater God, then why isn’t it accepted?

Page 21: Creation Science A Brief Look At Genesis. Try to imagine total emptiness. No sky. No land. No heat. No light. No sign of life. No objects. Total emptiness

• If one accepts there is a God who created us, then that God also owns us.

• If this God is the God of the Bible, He owns us and also has the right to set rules by which we must live.

Page 22: Creation Science A Brief Look At Genesis. Try to imagine total emptiness. No sky. No land. No heat. No light. No sign of life. No objects. Total emptiness

So Who Created God?

• God is the great “ I Am”.• We must accept this by faith because we can’t

totally understand.• Hebrews (11:6) But without faith it is

impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Page 23: Creation Science A Brief Look At Genesis. Try to imagine total emptiness. No sky. No land. No heat. No light. No sign of life. No objects. Total emptiness

•Christians faith is not “blind” faith.•Evolutionists actually have the “blind” faith because they believe something which goes against real science.•But Christ, through the Holy Spirit, opens the eyes of the Christians so that they can see their faith is real.

• Other parts of the bible have been proven archeologically, astronomically, geographically, etc.

• Why then would the beginning be any different?
