Commodore’s introductionAs a long time participant in many a Cowes Week I know how much this regatta means to many of our members and those who regularly race with the RORC. It is the highlight of the summer inshore sailing season.

This will be my first Lendy Cowes Week as Commodore and I am looking forward to welcoming all our members to the clubhouse who are participating in the regatta whether as competitors or much valued volunteers.

The Cowes committee have devised a series of social events starting with the Commodores Cocktail Party on Saturday night, the Corinthian Ball on Tuesday and the newly instigated Crew Party on Wednesday that was such a success last year.

The Terrace Restaurant will once again be the place to enjoy the views over the Solent while savouring the quality food, wine and service on offer and also the place to watch the start of our Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race, perhaps our toughest with 1,800nm of offshore racing, which starts on Sunday 12th August. First warning is at 1150.

My thanks go to all the staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to make Lendy Cowes Week a huge success and fair winds and good sailing to all those competing.
