All courses at Trinity Academy Sixth Form require you to achieve 5 GCSEs or equivalent A* - C, with many having additional specifi c entry requirements. Please see the table below for a detailed overview of the courses offered and the entry requirements.

A Level (AS and A2)

Most students will choose to study four AS subjects in the Lower Sixth, continuing with three in the Upper Sixth to A2 standard. For the most able students, it may be possible to take fi ve AS Level subjects. It is expected that these students will reduce to four A2 Levels in the Upper Sixth. All A Level courses have entry requirements of fi ve GCSEs A* - C with most having other subject specifi c requirements. Students who follow the A Level curriculum will be perfectly suited to apply for Higher Education and Degree Courses.

The emphasis is on using and applying statistics. Appropriate interpretation of contexts and the outcomes of statistical procedures will be required. Applied A Level

These subjects offer an attractive alternative to the traditional academic A Level. Learning is assessed by way of case studies and reports, although there are also external examinations. The range of vocational and organisational skills the student develops from a Vocational A Level course is highly prized by universities and employers.

These courses offer an alternative to traditional academic A Levels and Applied A Levels. Learning is assessed through case studies and reports; assessment is one hundred per cent coursework. The BTEC Level Three Diploma is equivalent to two A Levels and is a twelve-unit course.

Prospects Careers in operative or trainee level within a wide range of environments using ICT. Such candidates would normally enter employment through a work-related training programme or go onto further studies in this area.

Entry requirements At least 5 GCSEs grades A* - C including grade C GCSE English and grade C in GCSE PE or merit in BTEC Sport Level 2.

Content Candidates are assessed in speaking and writing, responding to both fi ction and non-fi ction texts. Candidates also study an anthology of poetry covering poems from different cultures and traditions for the fi nal ‘reading’ examination. Free Standing Mathematics Qualifi cationThis is an ideal course for students who did not achieve a Grade A’ - E at GCSE Mathematics. Topics covered include Money Management and Using Data. Successful completion of this course could enable students to improve their GCSE Mathematics result in Year 13. The course is not suitable for students who already have a Grade A* - C at GCSE Mathematics.

PTEAll sixth form students follow a structured programme of PTE (Philosophy, Theology and Ethics) throughout their two years of study. The PTE course is an excellent complement to a student’s academic studies, regardless of which university and future career they have in mind. It seeks to develop logical thought, ethical debate and the mature exchange of ideas on subjects which are often controversial.
