What is a Course Rep?
Your Role…
Represent your peers views and concerns about your course to the University
Communicate information from meetings back to your students and be pro-active in helping to deal with issues
Be the link between the Students’ Union and University so that a good working relationship forms
Knowing where to signpost students for help
Your Responsibilities…Attend training and top-up training
Attend the Student-Staff Committee Meetings (at least once a term)
Attend ED Advisory Committee with the Students’ Union (one per semester)
Attend a lunch with the Vice-Chancellor and Pro-Vice-Chancellor
Get involved in Education Campaigns
Keep up to date with your department
Get to know your peers on your course
Student Staff Committee (SSC)
What is it?•Meeting between members of staff in your department and the course reps in your department•Raise issues or questions about your course•Feedback system•Essential to improve your department
How often does it meet?•Undergraduates meet at least 3 times a year•Postgraduates meet once a term•Extra meeting can be arranged•Ask your department for the date of your 1st SSC
What can you expect?•Minutes of previous meeting discussed•Minor items and reports of progress•Agenda items discussed•Any other Business•Chair will dismiss the meeting and give details of the next
