Conditions for course completion:During the semester student must hand in the outputs of exercises. Their number will be announcedat the beginning of the semester. The final assessment of the exercises is based on the methodfulfilled / not fulfilled. The final assessment of the course is based on final exam. The student can undertake the final examonly after successful completion of the exercises. The final exam consists of two parts:- A written part – to get the A mark must be obtained at least 92 % of the total number of points,to get B must be obtained at least 84 % of the total number of points , C at least 75 %, D at least68 %, E at least 60 % of total number of points.- Oral – a student takes out two issues of the two question groups. (1 question is from the theoreticaland thematic cartography, one question is from the Mathematical cartography). The final assessment is calculated as a weighted average of the written part ( 1/3 ) and oral ( 2/3 ) ,while student must obtaine at least mark E from both parts of the final exam.

Learning outcomes:The main learning outcomes include theoretical and practical skills in cartography. Studentsunderstand cartographic terminology, students can apply cartographic approaches and methods, projections and define the content and composition of maps.

Conditions for course completion:active participation in seminarspreparation of the oral presentation to the selected topicsemestral written testoral examination

Learning outcomes:The main goal of the subject is to get knowledge on the basic reasons of recent distribution of theanimals on the Earth, zoogeographic regionalization of the Earth´s surface and human influence onthe faunal distribution in the history.

Brief outline of the course:This course will review our current understanding of the patterns of animal distribution and theprocesses that influence distributions of species and their attributes. Zoogeography will integrateinformation on the historical and current ecology, genetics, and physiology of animals and theirinteraction with environmental processes (continental drift, climate) in regulating geographicdistributions. The course will emphasize descriptive and analytical approaches useful in hypothesistesting in zoogeography and will illustrate applied aspects of zoogeography (e.g. refuge design inconservation).
