Hot wastes are being cooled in Dimpleflo heat exchange systems by incoming process fliuds. Energy is reclaimed from the waste liquid, reducing discharge temperature to conform with Government regulations and there is a direct energy saving by transferring the heat recovered into the incoming liquids. Investment payback times are as short as 6 months aided by current Government policy and energy cost savings.

TERALBA HEAT TRANSFER - HISTORY

Teralba Industries; with more than 30 years of trading experience and more than 100 years combined experience between the staff dating back to the 1960’s when the founder of the enterprise was involved in the design of cooling jackets for wine fermentation pressure vessels. This accumulated expertise results in a current family based enterprise operating in Australia and overseas. Teralba can guide you in the right direction.

1967-1972The founder of Teralba was involved in the selection, manufacture, assembly and testing of heat transfer cooling jackets fitted to pressure vessels for both Australia and New Zealand.

1977-1982Teralba has supplied equipment to many food related businesses For example, SODA STREAM syrup manufacturing plant at Smithfield NSW included a tubular liquid sugar heat exchanger complete with turbulence enhancing jacket baffles.

1983-1992Establishment of Dimpleflo tube turbulence enhancing profiles. First food related heat exchanger was manufactured for ‘Alexander’s Perfect Cheese’ at Marrickville NSW. ’DIMPLEFLO’ registered trademark granted 1987.

1993-1999Growth period for Teralba .. Heat transfer equipment dominates its production capacity. ‘DIMPLESTREAM’ and ’COILFLO’ granted and proficiency in regard to critical quality surface finishes for the biopharm industry proven with repeat business from many clients.

2000-CurrentTeralba gains right to manufacture Mueller ACCU THERM plate heat exchangers under license from American giant PAUL MUELLER CO in Missouri USA. The broad scope of heat transfer equipment is now available from the one Quality Assured source; Teralba Industries.

Mueller Accu-Therm® plate heat exchangers consist of a number of corrugated plates with gaskets placed in grooves along the edge. The adjacent plates come into contact with each other where the ridges meet. Plates are clamped together to form counter-current flowpaths. By combining various style plates and flow arrangments, the ultimate efficiency can be attained.

DIMPLED TUBE/PIPEThis remarkable innovation was developed by the founder of Teralba Industries as a result of his observations of how much quicker liquids heat / cool when laminar flow patterns are disturbed/interrupted. By arranging dimples at just the right pitch and centres, the liquid is ‘jostled’ but not restricted and there is little change in the pressure drop characteristics compared to plain (undimpled) surfaces. There is a HUGE change in the heat transfer rates, efficiency rates soar and the cleanability of the tubes remain closely comparable to plain tubes as there are no continuous corrugations which retain product/ cleaning solutions.

APPLICATIONS• Highly versatile: suits most

fluids/gases.

• Particulates or solids in suspension are easily processed with this configuration.

HOW DOES IT WORK?Template immersion panels/coils are sized to fi t into your storage/process tank. The surface area required and many other factors are selected from our computer aided design programs. NATURE FACT:Whales, being warm blooded marine mammals, use their tails in and/or out of the sea to regulate the temperature of the whale blood - a perfect heat transfer control system!

This fully integrated Teralba heat transfer system accepts product at room temperature; heats the fluid to a preset pasteurization temperature using DIMPLEFLO MULTITUBE heat exchange tubes; holds the temperature for a length of time (long enough to sterilize product from active contaminants); then cools back to room temperature using cooling tower water and chilled water. The process is fully controlled/monitored via touch screen electronics and these controls also incorporate CIP function and steam sterilization. One of many systems currently operating in Australia.
