Correction of a proposed generic name for a fossil turbellarian

Department of Zoology, Oregon State University, Corvallis, OR 97331, USA.
It was discovered that the generic name Palaeoso- ma, proposed recently for a fossil turbellarian (Poinar 2003), was preoccupied by a genus of fossil millipedes (Jackson & Brade-Birks 1919) and is therefore un- available. I here propose a replacement genus name, Micropalaeosoma, for the fossil turbellarian. "Micro" is from the Greek micros, meaning small; "palaeo" is from the Greek palaios, meaning old; and soma is Greek, meaning body. The gender is neuter. The full
