    FOUNDRY TECHNOLOGY

    Casting on highest level

Since the company foundation in 1708 components of metallicmaterials are cast. Besides an iron and steel a bronze foundry waserected around 1890. Nowadays mainly sand castings of copperand copper alloys are produced but also castings of high and lowalloyed steels and nickel alloys.

For the hand- or automatically formed parts resinoid-bonded sandsare used. This ensures an excellent surface as well as very closetolerances. Components with special requirements can be cast asper the shell moulding process using ceramic moulds and ceramiccores. Castings of copper alloys can be realized up to unit weightsof abt. 7,000 kgs and up to abt. 1,200 kgs of steel.

A well equipped machine shop with latest CNC lathes allows pre- orfinish-machining of castings as per customers drawings. In thelaboratory and testing department all destructive and non-destruc -tive tests and examinations are possible. Our production is certifiedto DIN EN ISO 9001 : 2000. Quality and service are our basis forsuccessful work on the national and international market.

    Material characteristics

Tough-hard engineering material with good strength values, enhanced salt water resistance due to increased nickel content, moderate sliding properties.

Engineering material with high static strength and hardness, lowrunning quality in case of emergency, use as a bearing materialwith good lubrication.

BZG is a non-standardized sliding and structural material. It hadbeen developed from ZB 37 and improved with regard to slidingcharacteristics. These are comparable with the wrought alloy BZ 2= Cu Zn 37 Mn 3 Al 2 Pb Si = CW 713R. BZG is suitable formedium sliding velocities and medium unit pressure. A hardercounter material is recommended.

Engineering material with good corrosion and salt water resistance, low permeability, good mechanical properties in the temperaturerange from 70 to 620 K. Very good casting characteristics and goodmechanical values.

    Application examples

Engineering parts in mechanical applications such as com -pression nuts in rolling mills and spindle presses, bottom bushesand gland bushes, ships upper works and hardware, propellerhubs and blades, with defined elelctrical conductivity also partsfor the electrical industry.

Engineering parts subject to static stress, valve and control components, seats, tapers, bottom bushes and gland bushes, guide rings, sliding blocks, compression and adjusting nuts atlow sliding speeds.

Preferably used for sliding stressed parts, e.g. spindle nuts, pressure nuts, bearing- and guide bushes, bearing rings and locking units, continuous cast worm wheel rims as well as cast round wheel bodies.

Suitable for thin-walled parts intended to be pressure-tight such as salt water pump housings, heat exchanger parts and watercisterns, suctions heads, complex fittings for salt water operation or also domestic use, generally for parts with low wall-thickness.

    Material characteristics

Casting materials with extremely good resistance to salt water, heated brackish and harbour water, effluent containing chloride, brine solutions, no risk of stress crack corrosion, with rising Ni content increasing resistance to erosion and cravitation.

    See GN 10

High nickeliferous material especially for the glass industry. Highwear resistance is mated with good oxidation-corrosion resistance. The good thermal conductivity offers quick cooling of the glass products and short cycle times.GNA 9 is an alloy without zinc which gives advantages in armoringby hard-surface welding.

    Application examples

Fittings components, valve components, oil and water cooler cis terns, pipe sections and pipe junctions etc. for power stations, refineries, salt water desalting plants, chemical and petrochemical indus try, shipbuilding, oil rigs, crude oil prospecting and processing.

    Material characteristics

Engineering materials with very high electrical conductivity andvery high thermal conductivity.

Engineering material with high electrical conductivity and high thermal conductivity with good strength values also at high temperatures.

    Application examples

Structural components for electrical machine engineering, welding machines, general mechanical engineering and the chemical in dus try or steel mills for power or heat conduction.Power supply sys tems, contacts, cooling elements also with cast-in cooling pipes.

Components for the electrical, welding and mechanical enginee-ring sector, e.g. electrode holders, also with cast-in cooling pipes, welding jaws, copperized bars, contacts and clamping jaws inresistance welding applications, cooling elements for chemical and metallurgical processes.

1 For ISO, F and GB the abbreviations, and for the USA the alloy number introduced in all standards (ASTM, SAE, MIL etc.) has been specified. largely in agreement; () partially in agreement.2 G = sand casting; GZ = centrifugal casting; M = shell mould casting. The values indicated are minimum values ascertained on separately cast test bars in the case of G and M.In the case of GZ, the test bar is taken from the casting; here the specified values apply only for wall thicknesses up to 50 mm. Guarantee values must be agreed.
