The history of Shanghai Hongyuan Lighting & Electric Equipment Co.,Ltd. can be traced back to 1989, till now, it has been 24 years. It has always been Hongyuan's mission to revitalize the national lighting industry and climb to new technological heights through the first localization of research and development into high-pressure sodium lamp automated production lines. As leaders in the field, they developed the first series of colour metal halide lamps which now beautify many landmark buildings both home and abroad. Some sites include the Shanghai Bund, so has been reputed as the “Urban Night Beautician” by a number of mainstream medias. In 2003, Hongyuan independently developed a series of Induction lamps with features of high efficacy, long life span, environment-friendly, and created its own brand---LVD. With a deep understanding and mastery of energy-efficient lighting technology, on the basis of self-developing core technology of induction lamp, Hongyuan not only developed the Saturn, Venus, Smart dragon series of light sources and ballasts, including a full range of complete induction lighting units, but also gradually incorporated induction lamp with technology of dimming, remote control, agriculture lighting, and followed by the research in low wattage LED and OLED as Hongyuan’s next technologies. In 2008, the successful introduction of Goldman Sachs International Capital, laid the foundation for the full implementation of international strategy. Three years later, along with regional economic transformation in Nanxiang, where the company located, Hongyuan relocated its manufacturing base in Jiangsu Yancheng while remaining Shanghai Headquarters concentrating on marketing activities, in view to enjoying a great progress. At the meantime, a plan for IPO within two years was launched, and all of these mean Hongyuan has turned into a new chapter for its take-off! The headquarters will be rebuilt in the old address, the construction and decoration of the 18-story headquarters building will be completed in 2 years. Jiangsu LVD lighting industrial manufacturing base covers about 124000m , with total investment of RMB 500 million. After a successful accomplishment of high efficient work through the contract signed and construction commenced till production in 2011, the industrial base becomes a professional with dust-free LED COB technology and facilities, an induction lamp manufacturing center equipped with the advanced facilities of induction light source, accommodated fixture, assembly, , a logistics center with an integrated supply chain for green lighting products.

The completion of Jiangsu LVD lighting industrial manufacturing base realized the vertical integration of the whole industrial chain of induction lamps including the core devices ballast, PCB, glass tubes, the light source to special fixtures of induction lamp, and tiny items as a wire and a component, large as the entire production line, etc., and all are firmly controlled by Hongyuan’s quality control system. A complete industrial chain of production makes various production processes in our own control, which is a concentrated reflection that Hongyuan is extremely strict to the quality of products, and highly responsible to the customer.

Lamp workshop mainly undertakes light source production, including cleaning tube , mixing trichromatic phosphor and coating, tube butt, vacuum exhaust, all of which are done automatically by machines; In electronic workshop, the production includes ballasts, PCB and other electronic components. Its dust-free workshop is constructed according to tens of thousands of dust-free standards, and the equipment is all of international advanced level. In the processes like wire soldering and die attach, all achieved fully automated operation, and during which cameras are used to recognize images, with high accuracy and speed; Fixture workshop specially produces fixtures that accommodate induction lamps and ballasts, in order to help induction lamp highlight its advantages to the fullest. Lastly, the assembly workshop is to complete the entire product assembly, and conduct testing through automatic aging line and automatic digital test line. After all the QC inspections have been completed, the product can be standardizedly packed and then put into the warehouse. In order to fully improve the working efficiency in the warehouse, the action of the warehouse’s reasonable layout, loading and unloading, transportation basically achieves mechanization, and also technologies as standard codes are adopted to achieve storage management automation.In the near future, the production capacity of the LVD manufacturing base will release its power, which makes its shipping dock of warehouse very busy. Currently, all the employees are working hard to achieve the goal of an annual output of 1 billion RMB.

In 2012, with the establishment of distribution center in Singapore, Dubai, Hongyuan launched its global network layout to set up overseas warehouse in the world’s largest throughput and most professional Storage and Distribution transit port, to offer better service to the global customers.

In the early 2000, HongYuan invested over 100 million RMB in the R&D and application of induction lamp. After three years of hardworking and perseverance, HongYuan became the first one who stably applied the IC technology and electromagnetic induction technology into the lighting field, which contributed to the invention of induction lamp. At the meantime, Hongyuan created its own brand ---LVD, which was gradually recognized as synonymous with Induction lamp. Induction lamp is a new generation of light source，representing the direction of lighting technology, that is, high lumen efficacy, long life span, high color rendering index, which combined the advanced technology of photics, electricity, magnetism etc. As an important representative of new light source, it has a bright market prospect and potential under the background of global energy-saving and traditional light source revolution.

Since 2003 when Induction lamp was invented, Hongyuan has always been concentrating on the development and innovation of induction lamp industry. However, international lighting giant Osram challenged the patent of induction lamp, Shanghai Hongyuan therefore had to spend a lot of efforts to deal with disputes against Osram, which seriously affected the development of Hongyuan. Meanwhile, the industry came into chaos, which constrained the development of induction lamp. Until 24th Oct. 2011, The 6-year-long lawsuit on intellectual property between Shanghai Hongyuan and OSRAM came to an end with Hongyuan’s victory after final judgments from both Shanghai Supreme Court and Beijing Supreme Court, and it’s significant to both Hongyuan and Lighting Industry. It was the first case in lighting industry that Beijing Supreme Court specially held press conference to announce the judgment.

For 24 years, the continuous glory and reputation of Hongyuan have been inseparable from president Li Weide and his father Mr. Li Anhua's particular emotion on lighting. Li Weide’s Father:

Mr Lian Hua: Mr . Li Weide's father (1918.9-1987.3), Chinese first generation of electric vacuum materials expert. He developed various electrical vacuum metal materials, such as Dumet wire, steel cored wire, iron nickel-plated wire, molybdenum wire, nickel and cobalt wire etc, which filled the technology gaps of China's electric light source and pushed the development of new electric light source technology. In 1994, Hongyuan successfully developed the first automatic production line of high-pressure sodium lamp in China, and made the equipment at the cost of only 2 million RMB in contrast with $ 5 million if imported, which filled a blank in domestic lighting field.

IIn 1995, Hongyuan developed the first series of color metal halide lamp in China, which beautified numerous famous landmarks and landscapes in the domestic including Shanghai Bund, and also produced a great effect in domestic lighting industry after widely reported with the title of “Urban Night Beautician” by the ”Wen Hui Pao”）, a famous newspaper with a large circulation in China.

In 1996, Hongyuan applied advanced science and technology in inventing a series of GTN floodlight fixtures. The application of anti-corrosion, high temperature resistant non-metallic materials to the processing of fixture housing, filled a blank of domestic lighting field and also got the national patent certification. In the same year, Hongyuan also developed ballasts and electric trigger production lines, and became a large-scale company specializing in manufacturing light source, fixture and accessories.

In 1997, Hongyuan was the first company producing integrated fixtures, which could assemble lamp and its electrical parts all in one instead of separation, thus not only beautified the appearance of the lamps, but also improved the match of ballast, light and fixtures, which further improved the quality of lighting, and also greatly facilitated the installation and use for customers.

In 2002, Hongyuan was in cooperation with the 3D Inc, in USA, built up the US division of its lighting technology center in Virginia, to let its lighting technology gear to international standards.

A leader in the global lighting industry, Dr. Kamiya graduated and received his doctorate from the University of Tokyo Japan majoring Chemistry. In 1962, he joined Japan’s Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd as the chief engineer, heading its Electric Light Source Institute. His devotion to electric light source technology encouraged him to dedicate all his life, and to make a significant contribution to the development of world phosphor technology, which made him enjoy an excellent reputation and prestige in the lighting industry both at home and abroad. Since first coming to China in 1992 as a part of Japan’s technological delegation, Dr. Kamiya has helped to forge a strong bond between the two nations over the last 20 years. Now, having visited China more than 30 times, he should be recognized as having cooperated with and guided Chinese electric light source technology developers to integrate and advance the dynamic with advanced technology of Japan and the world.

In a paper published in 2000, Dr. Kamiya predicted that the future of electric lighting would be found in two distinct sources. One would be semiconductor diode (LED), another would be a kind of low or high -pressure discharge electrodeless lamp that is Induction Lamp. Under his guidance, in 2003, Hongyuan took a leading role in the independent research and development of induction lamp and have brought this technology out into the world. In the spring of 2004, Dr.Kamiya went to visit Hongyuan for his first time, accompanied by the Professors of the Electric Light Source Institute of Fudan University. After seeing the LVD products, he made an inscription i.e., “An invention which surpasses the global lighting technology.” After that, Hongyuan made a closed tie with Dr.Kamiya.

In late May of 2012, Dr. Kamiya once again returned to China. He persevered in walking 5km everyday as his rehabilitation exercise in his octogenarian to fulfil this visit. On June 5th he made it known that he truly believed Hongyuan was worthy of his trust to continue his work and passed on his spirit for excellence by giving Hongyaun an original light bulb invented by Thomas Edison that he had possessed in his own time. To him, it had come to represent his love and dedication to the lighting industry. In order to think about continuing a legacy of a truly unique and world changing invention which continues to motivate and inspire future generations.


Electric Light Sources Development Histroy

The 1st light source: incandescent lampAmerican T•A•Edison developed a practical carbon filament incandescent lamp in 1897; while in 1907, tungsten filament was applied to incandescent lamp.

The 2nd light source: fluorescent lampFluorescent lamp was developed in Europe and America in the 1930s. The efficiency and l ife span of the fluorescent lamp were over 3 t imes that of incandescent lamp.

The 3rd light source: HID and other new light sourcesIn the 1940s, high pressure mercury lamp was put into practical use.In the 1960s, metal halide lamp and high pressure sodium lamp came into being.In the 1980s, low power HID launched.

The 4th light source: LVD induction lamp and LEDLVD induction lampIn 1910, the theory of induction coupling electrodeless lighting principle emerged.

In 2003, Hongyuan independently researched and developed LVD induction lamp, bringing induction coupling electrodeless fluorescent lamp to the market.

LVD induction lamp theoryLVD induction lamp operates while the separated ballast inputs high frequent signal into the coupler( normally ferrite core), and the coupling lamp tube is inducted and then generates light. Excited by low frequent electromagnetic signal, the plasma inside the LVD induction lamp tube discharges and makes glow, similar to that of the micro-wave oven heating-up process. (microwave makes water molecule vibrate so as to heat up water and the affiliated matter.)Before the lamp tube was lighted, the high voltage of the electronic ballast generates electromagnetic signal, ionizing the mercury gas inside the lamp tube. As a result of that, the mercury gas is excited and emits electron and ultraviolet ray of 253.7nm. The UV radiation created is converted to visible light as it passes through the phosphor coating on the surface of the tube.The coupling ferrite core is placed outside the light tube. The coupling tube glows when applying low frequent electromagnetic signal. LVD induction lamp has advantages over others regarding light efficiency, light attenuation, EMC, long-term stability and heat dissipation performance.Besides, LVD is featured by its high luminous efficiency, energy saving, low power consumption, no glare and long life span. Electronic ballast specification


Be sure to prevent the lamp and ballast from any serious shake, vibration, collision, and

being broken, when assembling with a fixture.

Be sure to prevent the fixture from any shake, drop, to avoid all the glass materials being hit, when installing.

Be sure to assemble the lamp with the suitable ballast strictly in accordance with our

Instructions.

Any random application will certainly cause lighting efficacy down, even damage the lamp and ballast.

Be sure that the fixture is with the earth terminal, being kept in an excellent connection.

Be sure that the terminal cable of the fixture is strictly in accordance with the relevant

standard of the country where the application locates.

Be sure to keep a certain distance no less than 10mm between the lens and lamp.

The distance of connecting line between the lamp and ballast should less than 2m.
