In any case, the aim of learning is not to be the rote parrot but an understanding genius. Long and boring subjects can easily be learned by the method of ‘concept mapping’. Concept mapping is the outline of any given topic. Through the main word or a marked word, a mental diagram can be represented for a topic. SUmmaryDifficult topics in education lead to various shortcomings like disinterest of students in subjects, difficulty in learning and absence from school, etc. Through concept mapping, these topics can easily be explained to the students. This helps the teachers too in preparing their lesson plans.

ImplemeNtatIoNComprehension of subjects for students becomes very easy through concept mapping. The first impression of concept mapping itself creates interest amongst students. The attractive-looking material creates interest in the students and they, on their own, try to understand and learn different subjects. Teachers are of course always there to assist the students.

poSt-ImplemeNtatIoNBefore the implementation of this innovation, the educator must be able to comprehend the resources and the time they have for its implementation. Necessary Materials: The students will need chart paper, A4 size paper, blackboard, student’s note books, sketch pen, scale, pen, etc.,time: 30 to 60 minutes.iMplEMENtAtiON.1. Teachers must present inherent knowledge of the

courses through the ‘graphic representation’. 2. Teachers can represent any topic on a flat chart

through course points with easy and relevant words to make the concept map. Following their teacher, students must be guided to prepare their own concept map using relevant words and drawings.

3. Similarly, students can prepare concept maps for any topic and learn it in an effective manner which will get imprinted in their minds. Teachers must get the activity of concept mapping done both as an individual and as a group activity.

If the topic in science is ‘Light’, then it can be easily taught through concept mapping.1. On a chart paper, make a box and write the word

‘Light’ on it.2. Now ask students about different sources of Light

and write them in different boxes.3. Giving examples, complete this step.4. Now explain the implementation process of these

sources to the students and complete the concept map.

5. Similarly, explain the transmission of Light to the students.

6. To comprehend the complete topic and its revision, concept mapping can also be used for the ‘eclipse’ topic.
