A Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) is defined as a wagon body style with elevated ride height, 2 or 4 doors and typically features 4WD or AWD. These days there are SUVs purpose built for almost any lifestyle, and they generally fall into one of four groups based on their length and width: Compact / Small, Medium, Large and Upper Large. If you’re after a compact vehicle with the space and practicality of 5 seats, then a small SUV makes perfect sense.

If you’d like a bit more space for both passengers and storage, then a medium or mid-size SUV would be the go. With the flexibility of 5 or 7 seats, they’re perfect for small families.

If you’re a growing family after plenty of room, a large SUV with 7 seats across three rows would do the job.

If you’d like to carry up to 7 or 8 passengers in comfort while tackling off-road terrain, then an extra-large or upper large SUV is for you.
