Its main role is to protect the competitive process for the benefit of businesses, consumers and the economy. The Malaysian Competition Act 2010, which came into effect on 1 January 2012, applies to all business activities within and outside of Malaysia as long as these activities have an impact on competition in the domestic market. His principal areas of practice were focused to commercial and contractual disputes. Suren Rajah is a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (Honours) graduate from University of Wales, Aberystwyth, United Kingdom. He is a Barrister-at-Law of The Honourable Society of Inner Temple where he was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales in 2009. He was subsequently admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 2010. RACHEL BURGESS Rachel has specialised in competition law in Australia and the UK for approximately 15 years, working for both private practice and government. She has advised a wide spectrum of clients, ranging from government Ministers, senior civil servants and military personnel, to senior company lawyers and board directors, commercial managers and their staff. Rachel holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the Queensland University of Technology and is currently completing her Masters of Laws through the University of London. She is a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and the Courts of England and Wales. WAN KHATINA WAN MOHD NAWAWI Wan Khatina Nawawi has been an economist for about 20 years. She has undertaken various research and policy advisory work in the area of competition economics and law including being part of the team drafting the competition bill for Malaysia, advising Khazanah and the government-linked companies (GLCs) on competition-related issues for investment transactions, advising the Ministry of Finance on the competition issues in free trade agreements and being a researcher for the Research Partnership Platform (RPP), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Khatina has Masters Degrees in Public Administration from Harvard University, Competition Economics from the King’s College London, and Business Administration from the Melbourne Business School, University of Melbourne.

TERMS & CONdITIONSRegistration is on a first-come-first-served-basis. No walk-ins accepted. All registrations MUST be accompanied with the full payment. Admittance will not be permitted unless payment or a letter of guarantee is received. There is no refund policy for cancellation by participant. If a participant fails to attend a programme, the registration fee will not be refunded nor allocated to another programme. Postponement/replacement is allowed if SSM is notified within three (3) working days prior to the programme. All postponements/replacements must be made in writing and acknowledged by SSM. Any replacement of certificate due to errors in name or identification card number wrongly filled by participant/representative during registration or loss of certificate will be charged an administrative fee of RM30.00 per copy.

SSM reserves the right to postpone the date or cancel programme and/or change venue due to any unforeseen circumstances that may arise. In cases of cancellation by COMTRAC, the participant will be duly informed and the registration fee will be refunded upon request. SSM reserves the right to change the speaker(s) without prior notice. In such case, there shall be no refund.
