For more than 150 years, wood has been sawn at the foot of the Rigi mountain, in Haltikon. Over the course of five generations since then, the Schilliger families have expanded the once-small sawmill into an impressive company with 320 employees across two countries. This includes three sawmills, two glued wood plants, two large panel plants and three planing mills.

The mission has remained the same: To accompany and refine the wonderful raw material that is wood in its journey from trunk to high-quality intermediate goods.

Building with wood is a commitment to nature. Through photosynthesis, trees convert CO2, water and light into nutrients (glucose) for the tree, and oxygen. In a natural cycle, the CO2 stored in a tree is released again when the tree rots or burns. Building with wood removes CO2 from this cycle for many years and stores it in the building. Buildings with wood from managed forests make an important contribution to climate protection as a CO2 sink.

Anyone who builds with Schilliger wood goes a step further, because Schilliger Holz AG obtains the wood for its Swiss factories exclusively from Swiss forests. Wood used in Germany also comes from the region. By buying Schilliger wood you support regional forestry, enable sustainable forest management and ensure that the added value remains in the country.

Wood is an exceptional all-rounder. It has a high strength with a low dead weight and exceptional static properties. It can be used to construct multi-storey buildings and even halls, and to implement the boldest architectural ideas - all this with efficient and dry

construction methods and a short construction time. Timber buildings also have excellent fire protection properties and are earthquake-proof. Inside, wood also exudes an incomparable, pleasant indoor climate, as wood can absorb and release moisture.

Schilliger Holz AG offers a wide range of timber products for timber construction: These include solid wood, solid structural timber, various glued wood products, cross laminated timber, planed goods and master builder products – including services such as

joinery and cutting, pressure impregnation or colour treatment if required. This means anyone building with timber can receive everything from a single source, delivered directly by Schilliger trucks.

We supply all our products either planed and sanded, just planed or also rough-sawn – the choice is yours. In addition to our standard products of 4 m, 4,5m or 5m, we can also meet special requests for dimensions and profiles.

For surface treatment, a modern coating plant is available for the application of glazes and varnishes. Pressure impregnation is possible in the green, brown and grey. Thanks to the newly patented UVood® treatment process, we can also protect rough-sawn or planed softwoods from UV radiation without changing the wood surface in its natural smell, colour or feel. Coatings in all colours

Untreated wooden facades often weather irregularly and uncontrolled. Biood anticipates this weathering process - the wood receives an even patina, thanks to a natural preweathering without colourants.

We produce glued laminated timber from high quality GL 24/k and GL 28/k with finger-jointed, horizontally glued lamellas. These are ideal for load-bearing elements and applications with high static requirements and are delivered for visible and non-visible applicatons (SI or NSI).

Cross laminated timber (CLT) is composed of several layers of joint-glued single-layer panels, which are glued crosswise on top of one another. This gives them great stability and, depending on the thickness of the layers, means that CLT can be used in many different ways – for example as visible ceiling, wall or floor elements – making CLT an ideal building material for demanding architectural projects.

For example, timber engineers at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne have developed a system that allows roof sections (spanning up to 20 metres) made of cross laminated timber panels to be joined together without the need for metal connectors.

Thanks to our efficient computer-controlled cutting machine, we can cut and mill complicated profiles and details into panels and beams with maximum precision.

For almost all cutting requirements, we have the corresponding tool in our large assortment of cutting instruments - from straight or bevelled formatting cuts, to deburring, tongue and groove joints, rebates and other panel joints, to drilling holes.

Thanks to the new panel plant in Haltikon, cross laminated timber panels with dimensions of 3’400 x 14‘000 mm and a thicknesses of 27 to 400 mm can be produced with state-of-the-art, computer-controlled equipment. High-capacity high-bay warehouses also

allow completely individualized packing and storing of individual order items. The gluing plant in Haltikon is also new. The core piece is a new rotary press.

At Schilliger Holz AG, wood by-products are also fully utilised. Sawdust and wood chips find their way into the nearby paper and chipboard industry, as well as into pellet production, and bark is sold as mulch and for energy generation.

Agro-Energie Rigi’s wood-fined combined heat and power plant is situated just next to the site of Schilliger Holz AG.



Our customers are mainly in the construction and packaging industry in Switzerland, Italy and France. Schilliger Holz AG also has a sales office in Pakistan and exports wood products to Italy, Spain, England, USA, Canada, Asia, Australia and the Middle East.

Depending on the destination, Schilliger timber products are transported by truck, by rail or - loaded into containers - by ship. Schilliger Holz AG has a fleet of 25 of its own trucks for transport in and around Switzerland.
