Community Outreach Program
We are very proud of what we do with our FPA program at LCHS; the Lancaster Catholic High School Community and Parish Outreach Program allows us to connect and form a partnership with each of our parishes in the Lancaster Deanery. This program will bring what we do each and every day at LCHS to the students in our Lancaster County Catholic Communities and, thanks to a group of very generous donors, we are able to provide these ARTS classes FREE of charge.
This program also provides enrichment opportunities to expand the awareness of and appreciation for the Fine and Performing Arts in our community. Early first-hand exposure to the ARTS can play an important part in child development, but access is limited for many children when arts programs are cut from school curriculums because of lack of funding. These cuts are happening right here in Lancaster County. At Lancaster Catholic High School, we recognize the importance for these programs and have taken steps over the past three years to strengthen the ARTS programs we offer in our Catholic Grade Schools and Lancaster Catholic High School.
Benefits of ARTS in education • Has a tremendous impact on the development growth of every child
• Strengthens problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, adding to overall academic achievement and school success
• Teaches children life skills such as developing an informed perception, articulating a vision, learning to solve problems and make decisions, building self-confidence and self-discipline.
Inspire
These classes / sessions are organized and run by our very own FPA staff at Lancaster Catholic High, Arts staff from our Lancaster Deanery Grade Schools and assisted by our students from LCHS. Our FPA faculty is comprised of excellent, enthusiastic and experienced professional teachers who understand how to nurture, encourage and guide our children through beginning to advanced levels of their chosen art and encourage the development of creativity. We plan to offer a Winter / Spring Session beginning this March and a Fall Session at the beginning of next school year. Offerings over both semesters would include Acting, Ceramics, Dance, Drama (Musical Theatre), Drawing, Music (Band, Guitar, Strings and Vocal lessons and small ensembles), Painting, Photography and Poetry. The classes are offered in 8-week sessions / 2 nights per week and a Concert / Recital / Showcase will be held at the end of each session.
Passion
The program workshops will take place on Wednesday & Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 PM at the Saint John Neumann Parish in the St. John XXIII Religious Education Center 601 East Delp Road Bldg. #2 17601. Offerings are geared toward a certain grade level. A minimum number of students would be necessary for most classes to take place and a maximum number of participants will be established by each teaching artist. Once again….these sessions are offered FREE OF CHARGE. Donations will be accepted to help underwrite this Outreach Program.

He graduated from Bloomsburg University with a degree in Music Education and a concentration in vocal studies. He is classically trained operatic Baritone and performs assorted repertoire from the arias of Verdi to the songs of Ives. He is the choral director at his home parish of St. Ignatius Loyola in Sinking Spring and is also a part-time accompanist. Rebecca Harvey holds a B.A. (Germanistik), Regis College; M.A. (Humanities), Pennsylvania State University; enrolled M.Ed. (Education) Cabrini College; Graduate School of Education, Drexel University; Columbia University Teachers College, Writing Institute; Pennsylvania Department of Education certified teacher; Master’s Thesis—Sin and Redemption: A Comparative Study of the “Fallen Woman” Archetype In the Novels The Scarlet Letter and Ruth. She began teaching for the Diocese of Harrisburg in 2007; however, she has taught on the elementary, secondary, and post-secondary levels for an accumulation of ten years. During this time, Mrs. Harvey also worked as a millinery artist and owned a millinery salon in downtown Ephrata, Pennsylvania. Her designs appeared in Brides® magazine; she also participated in many juried art shows on the East coast, including Long’s Park Art Show. Her current teaching responsibilities at LCHS include sophomore Introduction to Humanities, HACC’s Modern Culture and the Arts, and senior Honors Humanities. In addition to teaching at LCHS, Mrs. Harvey serves as an adjunct humanities faculty member at Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences. She is a staunch advocate of liberal arts education because it teaches students how to think and learn, as well as enhances their wisdom and faith. Mrs. Harvey’s interests include pedagogy, sixteenth-century England, twentieth-century American architecture and decorative arts, Romanticism, knitting and “glamping” with her family. Tracy Sanchez is the Spring Musical Choreographer for Lancaster Catholic High School and McCaskey High School. She teaches Health/PE, Body Balance and moderates a variety of clubs at LCHS. Tracy is excited to teach dance classes that will be offered for PE/Elective credit next school year.
